    College application for free

Since I am an alumni of Kettering University, I got a letter the other day with an application it in to hand off to someone else. They also gave me a waiver for the $35 application fee to hand to the person that fills out the application.

Since I don't know anyone around here that is applying there, I figured I'd open it up to you all since I know there are several people applying to colleges. If you need more info on the school, go to the link above.

I will only mail this to US residents and maybe Canadians, but you have to be serious about this. I don't want someone wasting the opportunity and my time. You also have to be a good candidate to get in there. It's not the easiest school to get into.

Anyways.. PM me or email me or just post here if you're interested.

My family would beat me if I left for another 4 years

Was a pretty looking site, but I spent over 5 minutes there and couldn't find a freakin address. I think its in Michigian since one of their maps have a reference to Ann Harbor.

    Good luck finding someone

OK, seems the admissions office failed to put something in their letter to me...

    http://www.admissions.kettering.edu/admission/apply.cfm

I have a waiver that is good until whenever, but apparently they're offering to waive the fee up until the 15th if you apply through snail mail or the 31st if you apply online.

    Thanks HB for finding that.

Either way, my offer still stands.

Yeah, the website navigation/content sucks. Sorry about that, I didn't have any part in it, just went there.

It's in Flint, Michigan... about an hour from Detroit and Ann Arbor. It's an engineering and management school with an emphasis on Mechanical (Automotive specialist) Engineering. I got my BS in Computer Engineering and they offer other degrees as well. Their bread and butter is ME and the school overall is mostly engineers.

Again, check the website for more info.

Also, I go there (for another 2 weeks), so I can answer questions, too.

It'd be more appropriate for a college in Flint to specialize in being a bum, but yeah.

They've also got top 15 EE and CE programs, and the best Mfg. Eng. department in the country.

How do you two like the engineer field btw? I'm trying to settle on an exact major and am currently leaning towards CIS - Programming but am also looking at CE. While I have the apitude I'm not sure if CE is right for me or not.

Bleh, I've seen worse college websites than both of those. University of Texas or something like that sent me a flash animation... it wasn't even timed correctly to the music and involved a lot of flashing.

Anyway, Kettering sends out those free applications to just about anyone that shows any interest in the college. I know. They send me one every two days, and send me information the other days.
    Away.

I personally enjoy the engineering field. There are plenty of challenges and you're always working on something new (or most of the time). This is one job where you can walk away (usually) and feel like you made a difference (if your company is doing anything worthwhile and you're a large contributor).

(see how well I've learned the political game? )

Seriously tho, it's not bad. Just prepare to work your ass off if you want to get into it.
