I love the part when the guy gets the fish hook through the back while still alive. Also when the chick cuts Leatherface's arm off with the butcher knife. Overall great movie!

"Based on a true story". Yeah, OK pal, whatever. Maybe it happened once. 30 years ago. In another state.

Its nowhere close to the actual story though it's ideas were based off of real events. http://www.snopes.com/movies/films/chainsaw.asp

There's definitely a new one. And it's definitely much worse than the older one.

Oh, so there is a new one. Ok.

Not many remakes are a patch on the original.

I think the general consensus is that if you saw the original when it first came out, then it's better than the new one. If the movie was before your time (like me) then the new one is better. The old version was annoying as hell for me and not very interesting, I did like the new one though.

Anyone can say that without the movie having anything to do with the actual events. I believe the original version of the film (and thus the remake) was "based on" the story of Ed Gaines. He was the guy who killed people and dug up dead bodies and ate body parts/organs and was making a suit out of skin (that's where Silence of the Lambs' killer came from too). So just because the writers wrote about a bunch of psychos that eat people and the fact that Ed Gaines ate people, they claim it is based on a true story. Bzzzzt, wrong (or at least very misleading, and purposefully so).

I haven't seen the remake yet, but the original is the scariest movie I have ever seen. At least that's how I remember it as I haven't seen it since I was a youngin.

I never saw the old one, but the new one was pretty good.

The only problem when watching the new one was that I had already seen the movie "House of 1000 Corpses" by Rob Zombie, which is a complete knock off of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I didn't know it when I first saw House of 1000 Corpses, but the whole time I was watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I was just thinking that this is the same as House of 1000 Corpses...

Anyways... it was a good movie, Jessica Biel is hot
