If you spend a few months in the community of THG, as i have in the past, they really are. I've stopped using them as a source of information.

Yes, intel may be ahead right now, but on September 23 when amd releases the amd64 platform, amd will probably pull ahead.

    What about Hyperthreading?

Its not as good as duals but but recompiled Gentoo twice. The first time was much slower than teh second. Not but huge amount but it did help.

Is AMD coming up with anything like that?

64bit right now is basicly useless now.

dont worry people who love AMD's cant accept that their cpu's are not as good as intel's... can anyone explain to me how benchmarks are "biased"?

oh look they agree with THG i guess they are biased too!

The xp3000 release was a joke. Basically, the same processor as the 2800. Now, they pull this crap again. I can't believe AMD fans support this. If Intel pulled this garbage, the oems would be in uproar. Anyone who supports this as xp3200 is a fan boy.

How bout no. I dont love AMD, i love intel, and all but one of my pc's is intel. I'm going to AMD for my next chip because i like it better for the price.

I didnt want this to become amd vs intel, might as well close it.

Gah, as my closing statement I want to RE say what I already said...

The 3200+ Vs. P4 3.2 GHz IS NOT A FAIR COMPARISON!!!

Whether the review site is biased or not, the 3.2 is simple the better chip. Once again, even the 3.0 is better (but not the 3.06). The 'C' generation of P4's is simply killer, though it costs a good amount....

THG is biased, not based on one review, but many. The 3200+ is slower than the 3.2, no matter the reviewer (it just is OK?). Intel has the current performance lead, and now it's all up in the air. Prescott Vs. A64 should be very interesting....

If we (as developers) don't switch to 64-bit now, everyone will be restricted to 4GB of ram (a mark that looks like it will be hit very soon) until we get off our lazy asses and do something about it.

Very true. Never though of it that way.

Not sure how many people here are in that league though...

That sounds like totally, 100% unbiased opinions to me. Jeez, I don't know how anyone could think that that was a biased review, calling people who like it fanboys and everything. Totally objective.

Fair point Govt, but then they have slated Intel before.

I mean IF the xp3000 and 3200 are as bad as they are made out to be, then those comments could just be "telling it how it is", if on the other hand they really aren't that bad, and THG are just spinning it that way, then yea i guess they are being biased.

I dunno really, i read THG a fair amount but then, since i don't really have extensive knowledge of the processors, i suppose i can't judge how accurate their assessments are.

Meh, I normally stay out of these, as I have no opinion one way or the other (I run an Athlon right now, and have never had any problems with it at all. My parents' computer is a P4, and they've never had any problems, either. Huzzah!), but that quote was pretty stupidly over-the-top.

edit: And it sounds like it was written by a 13 year old, not a professional journalist.

The P4 3.5 release was a joke. Basically, the same processor as the 3.2. Now, they pull this crap again. I can't believe Intel fans support this. If AMD pulled this garbage, the oems would be in uproar. Anyone who supports this as P4 3.5 is a fan boy and a leper.

Wheres does AMD's numbers come from anyway? Is it based on anything or just to top Intel's numbers?

yes and sadly people dont even read THG because if they did you would see it is not a quote from that site... instead it is a quote from an AMD forum...
