    Talking Distance to City

so lets say you are driving to a city....any city...chicago for example, and you see signs along the way showing how many miles away the city is, for example:

    Chicago - 237

    etc...
so you keep getting closer to Chicago, until the sign says

    Chicago - 3

when 20 minutes later, you see another sign:

    Chicago - 5i

    then:

    Chicago - 17i

    Something is definitely wrong....

(Just some more random thoughts of mine, feel free to comment)

    there isnt a point, really...

but then, how would you feel if you saw a sign that said

    Chicago - 17i miles

it would make you think something is very wrong...

If I saw a sign that said Chicago - 17i miles, I'd try to remember what I had been smoking earlier, and make a note to get more.

firstly I see nothing wrong, you did not have us make any assumptions. If you had us assume that we were getting closer and closer to chicago then I'd definitely start to feel worried, but I can just as easily assume on my own free will that you are just getting farther away from the city.

Secondly when you say i do you mean i as in any algebraic variable that needs to be solved for, or is it the imaginary number i? (the square root of -1)

and thirdly, the spoon isn't bending, you're just standing on your head you dirty moron!

    and fourthly when you say
    Chicago - 17i miles
do you mean negative 17 i miles or just the absolute value of 17i miles?

I would say you had passed into the fourth dimension...
