    ARG! who still uses KaZaA?

    im talking about the one you get from kazaa.com , if you use it, please, grab some sense!! ack o.o;;;

    if you use KaZaA seriously, have you ever heard of KaZaA Lite?

    as a little experiement i did this:

    i downlaoded KaZaA from kazaa.com and ran it, downloaded a few MP3s for testing purposes and then ran AVG, it found a virus. k, now, thank god it was able to delete the virus before anythign happened. Then i ran Ad-Aware6 and it found 40 files continaing spyware and adware. I uninstalled KaZaa and deleted the mp3s i got form it. Then i went and got KaZaA Lite from www.k-lite.tk and installed, dloaded a couple mp3s, ran AVG in the same maner, it found nothing. i ran Ad-Aware6 and it only found 1 adware thinger i got from a popup while surfing the net...damn gator... So then i uninstalled KaZaA Lite and got normal KaZaA again and ran it and dloaded a couple mp3s, ran AVG, no viruses, but over 60 adware files -_-'

    so heres my point, get KaZaA Lite over normal KaZaA, as KaZaA lite is smaller in filesize and isn't too much of a hassle.

    www.k-lite.com

    if your still on normal kazaa's side, then i pity your computer

    popup blockers may help a tniy bit, but not a whole lot...

    To my knowledge you don't get viruses from MP3 files. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    not the mp3s, downloading the mp3s made KaZaA work ionstead of just launching the application.

    However the crap inside KaZaA does all the dirty work while your downloading.

    the virus/spyware comes from the kazaa install, not the downloading

    I once managed to download a .zip full of viruses off kazaa (of course, I was looking for hacking how-tos, just for the point of knowledge) There were about 30 copies of the same virus, with names like "Photoshop keygen" and "Britney Spears Nude" Anyway, all the virus did was share my windows sounds directory on Kazaa (hahahaah, that's actually how I discovered it) and change the icons for .gif files or something like that. I found it with a virus scan and looked it up online - it's not even malicious. Anyway, there's my (pointless) story.
    Away.

    Also, K++ keeps your participation level at a stead 1000 so you can aways get a good spot in line, plus the built in download accelerator as it is called keeps looking for more and more sources which comes in very handy especially when the file is hosted by a dialup user.

    I've always preferred Morpheus over Kazaa.It has a much more cleaner interface than the latter.Also,its style of advertising is not irritating.It also allows u to use proxy servers,in case u like to play safe .
    But in the end,u need a lot of time to use p2p,since files are very large.I used Morpheus in my vacations,nowadays,I stay online only for a couple of minutes,so I've simply deleted it off as is basically just a waste of space now.
