    Question Salem

    I've read alot of posts here on the CBoard and I've noticed that Salem always has a great answer. The one question I have is: Is there anything relating to C++ Salem doesn't know or is he like a C++ god?

    I for one am voting for "C++ god", but maybe I am missing something.

    Are they both professionals or are they like 12 year old kids who have to get permission from their parents to use the computer?

    Prelude's married (or will be soon.) I don't know much about Salem, but he sounds like a professional.

    While you should convey such questoins VIA PM, Prelude is either engaged or married, and is a pro. Last I knew, Salem was freelance..but that was some time ago.

    Prelude is pin-point specific, and is undoubtedly insanely meticulous with detail. I haven't noticed Salem to be as obsessive in this area, while he does a fantastic job anyways, but he's more apt to just know about damn anything.

    Prelude takes breaks, while Salem generally tends to find ways of fitting this board in more often.

    Correct.

    >>> Salem was freelance..

    Being a freelancer does not stop you being a pro. I am currently unemployed, but that does not alter my professional status.

    I stated pro for Prelude because I was not aware of how she made a living(or attempted to) with programming. Salem, I was a tad more understood about(the making a living part, or how it was accomplished).

    Your point was taken, but not needed as I understood this prior to posting, and I apologize for any confusion.

    What ever happened to programming satellite ground stations or whatever you used to be working on? I always thought that sounded cool.

    >>> satellite ground stations

    Yes, that was what I was doing. There were a number of issues, not least of which was the work is basically done now, and because of the global slowdown, no more work was in the pipeline. The developers were "invited" to join the deployment teams on site. For me this would have meant a 3+ month stint in Singapore.

    Now I like Singapore, but there is no way I could leave my wife, (who is not in the best of health), for that period. Since I wasn't going, and they didn't need anyone staying, I took the offered severence.

    I'll probably look for a new job at some time, but it's not urgent.

    Wasn't Prelude using a new alias not long ago? I remember thinking, wow this poster sure reminds me of Prelude.

    Both Salem and Prelude can make the seemling complex look easy. They also show a lot of class.
