After week 2, I am tired as heck, and my feet are literally bleeding in several places. My back and neck are in pain, because they switched me to bass 3, which is like 30 lbs. including the carrier, and feels heavier after each day.
I had a ton of fun though, and it was most certainly worth it. There are a few instructors that I wish I could strangle to death , but all in all, it was a great experience. Pit and the drumline have 2 songs perfectly down, and we are getting two more songs before the football season starts. Remembering marching pages are a pain, thank goodness our opener has only 10, but the other three have quite a few. Another thing that is hard to remember, is the music. You have to memorize it beat by beat perfectly, or else you get yelled at. Crab steps are a pain too, when your bass carrier is broke, the J hooks come loose often, you are playing level 12 strokes, and you are trying to support 30 some pounds.
Last night they took us to a drum corps international show, it was awesome. We had to drive all the way to MTSU, but it was most definitely worth it. It was a big competition with like 8 drum corps from all around the united states. The black caviliers won, with a score of like 93.8 I think. The stands set up were cool too, they had all kinds of drums, sticks, clothes, and all kinds of other stuff. The only thing I ended up buying was a Zildjian hat, but I almost bought a pair of Vic Firth 2B sticks.
