I just read USA today's article about the new RX8. The max RPM for the engine is 9000 RPM (manual transmission) and 7000 RPM for the automatic.
30 grand is very very high. Your turbo might be winding out at 30 to 140 grand, but not your engine. The turbo on my Talon can wind out at up to 150,000 RPM, which is insane.
I don't think he meant 30k RPM for the engine, I think he meant 30 pounds of boost at high RPM ().
If you are saying the engine will spin 30k RPM, then I say you're talking out your ass
My car is also like Alpha'sA 2001 Accord Coupe (4-cyl 5 speed). Only minor mods though, because it's a lease. I'd love to have a RX-7, but I simply can't afford that

No, i meant 30k from the engine itsself. the 6 second RX7 spins more than that, it is not unheard of. Will mine do that? No way in HELL, but CAN a rotary do that? absolutely.
