The people at VH1 are stupid.

    http://www.wnbc.com/entertainment/2261466/detail.html

The following songs don't deserve to be on that list (there are
more, but these are the ones that bother me the most).

    Eminem - Lose Yourself.
    Eminem - My Name Is.
Backstreet Boys - I want it that way.
    Hanson - MMMbop.
    Nelly - Hot in Here.
LL Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out.
    Missy Elliot - Work It.
Destiny's Child - Say My Name.
    Madonna - Ray Of Light.

I mean, one Eminem song is bad enough; but two? How can
Kurt Cobain only have one song, while Emimen has two? That's
    such crap.

And why aren't The Smashing Pumpkins on that list? At least one
Pumpkins song deserves to be on that list. But noooo, VH1 felt
    that Missy Elliot's "Work It" was more deserving. Missy Elliot;
    that's just wrong.

Pearl Jam's "Yellow Leadbetter" definately deserves to be in the
    top 5!!!

Stupid Vh1. They suck. I freaking hate music today! All the bands
that seem to care about writing good songs don't get any recognition.
And a lot of the artists that once seemed to care about music
have sold out and become club bands. Gwen Stefani and Jewel
are skanks with no integrity whatsoever. I saw Jewel on The
    View
the other day; she was demonstrating a "butt roll" to
the audience. Appearently Beyonce Knowles showed her how to
    do it.

"Bling Bling" is in the Dictionary! The country is retarded. I wish
I could change the world, but since I can't, I guess I'll join in.
From this day on, I shall refer to my car as a "vroom vroom."

I don't think they should've title it "VH1's 100 GREATEST Songs Of The Last 25 Years", maybe it should've been "VH1's 100 MOST POPULAR Songs Of The Last 25 Years", because I don't think they can judge songs like that, and say which is the greatest, they can say which is the most popular( based on statistics )...

And I don't think popular songs are the greatest...

    ::EDIT::
It's great to have Nirvana, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" are the firsts place.
    none...

I doubt you'd ever get 2 people agree on the top 5 let alone the top 100. I does not say how they arrived at their list.

That's good to see a guy get in touch with his feminine side. Hehe, ethic watches The View.

Fight the Power was below Losing my Religion! Fight the Power has had a much greater impact than Losing my Religion...

It's not actually that great a song. Why does the media always suck up to dead people? It's a few power chords and some typical grungy lyrics. Nothing special. Like every Offspring song.

Another Radiohead song definately deserved to be on that list. Eminem maybe deserved to be near the bottom somewhere. But I'm having a good day. Eminem pretty much sucks in my books. Michael Jackson a good decision, not number 2 for just a catchy track though.

TLC are better suited to the bottom 25. They are just another manufactured band with nothing to contribute to music.

    Britney spears should be shot.

    Same for Alicia Keys.

Backstreet boys; Destiny's Child; Hansom: see TLC

Madonna only ever contributed her ass to music, and kylie's ass is better anyway. Even if they are both old and crusty now.

u2 just rock and need to be higher up.

Why aren't counting crows on there?

    that list sucks.

oh, btw: fight the power was a $$$$ song, losing my religion was a good song

    Brian,
You are right it's not that great song, but it's one of the best in the whole list... Just imagine one of Britney spears' songs to be the first in that list!!! It would be horrible!!!

Although Nirvana is not my best band, but it's still a good one...

    >>Why does the media always suck up to dead people
It's not like that... It's good that dead people are still remembered...

And if you don't think "Smells Like Teen Spirit" shouldn't be #1, which one do you think should? ( from that list )
    none...

    That list was.... yeah...

Better than my school's top 10 albums of all time, though. That really made me sad.

You don't even know what you're talking about. "Smells Like Teen
Spirit" is a great song, and is deserving of #1.

There's nothing wrong with power chords, either. Why do people
use this as an anti-Nirvana argument? Ooh, their songs are easy
to play, therefor they suck. That's just stupid.

"Smells Like..." changed music; if you can't see that, you have
problems. The song came out back in '91, do you have any idea
how bad music was back then? I mean, that was back in Michael
Bolton's day. Bands that come out now are still influenced by the
music Kurt created. Nobody is influenced by any other artist from
back then; the rappers aren't trying to mimic Vanilla Ice or MC
Hammer, and the rockers are no longer trying to mimic Guns n
Roses (with those stupid, big, Slash-hats).

His music was more real than any other bands'. The fact that he
    actually killed himself proves this.

"Typical Grungy Lyrics." That doesn't even make sense.

Oh, Christ... Just because he killed himself doesn't automatically make them a good band. I like them, but they're not great because Kurt got ........ed and shot himself.

That's undeniable. Problem is, the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears have changed music, too...

Disclaimer: that link takes you to flashdaddee. Damn you, cheez.
I had vowed never to return there... 6 months FD free, until
    today.

Puddle of Mudd? So, the "Fake Nirvana" makes the list, but the
    real Nirvana doesn't.

I hate Puddle of Mudd so much. Argh! This is just a terrible time
in music. Even the rockers are writing shallow lyrics. They have
a moral obligation to at least try to be metaphoric/artistic.

Bob Marley's "Legend" is also a greatest hits CD. Greatest hists
CDs shouldn't count. The disc is great, I have it (somewhere),
    but still.

Didn't know that... I agree, btw.

    (radiohead )

That list goes a long way to explaining the crappy music I hear at parties around here.

Pay attention, cheez. I didn't say the fact that he killed himself
made his music good, I said it made it real... It proves he wasn't
just trying to profit off of the angst of teenage kids. It proves that
he actually was a disturbed, sad, angry person.

OK, that's true, but 2Pac and B.I.G. were both killed and they rapped about gang warfare all the time... That dude from Sublime sang about drugs and got himself a heroin OD. Cobain's not the only one to do that.
