    >What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object ???

The universe will fold in on itself and disintegrate because of the inherent contradiction in having and immovable object and an unstopable force in the same universe

The real answear is that no such can exist. There is no theoretical explanation and the math tells that it is imposible!

    Wink Actually,

Actually, an unstoppable object doesn't necessarily have to go in one direction. When it hit's the immovable object it can hop up and down.

Actually, there is. Although, true, there is no imoveable object, there is in fact an immovable object. from a physical point of view, a human being by himself can't push Terra(Earth) across the solar system. So to answer your question... to a human on it, a planet is an immovable object.

I though we were assuming the existance of such force and object

True, he cannot 'push' it. But he can still move it. Just jump up! The force of your legs pushes the earth and the earth pushes you upward. Granted, the motion caused in the earth by jumping is infintesimal, it is still motion.

A little rule I learned. For every action there is a reaction. If you push against a wall, the wall pushes back with the same force

that "little rule" you refer to is Newton's Third Law of motion

    Force(g) = (k*m1*m2)/(r^2)

Where k is a constant, m1 and m2 are the masses of the two objects involved, and r is the radius between their centers of masses. Force(g) is the force of gravity. You exert just as much force on the earth as the earth exerts on you, so when you jump, your gravity is pulling the earth toward you. However, because

    F=ma

and the mass of the earth is so much greater than your mass, you accelerate much more rapidly toward the earth than the earth accelerates toward you. However, the fact remains that you move the earth. A similar thing applies with Force(friction) when you are walking. The friction between your foot and the earth allows the earth to push you forward as you walk, but at the same time, you are pushing the earth backward in its rotation (relative to the direction you're walking)

    >>If a tree falls on you in the woods, and there's no one else around, will you still scream !?!?

If a tree falls in the forrest, and there is no one else around, do the other trees laugh at it?

Does the pope s**t in the woods?

I should have waited a bit before posting the answer. You ppl are supposed to go through all the answers before I gave mine.

If I postulate that an immovable object exists and that an unstoppable force exists, both in the same universe, then these have absolute qualities.

The immovable object has infinite mass and 0 velocity - therefore, no matter the amount of force applied, the acceleration on it will always be 0. In effect it has infinite innertia.

And the unstoppable force has infinite mass and infinite velocity - therefore, no matter the amount of force applied to deflect it, the deflection will always be 0. In effect it has infinite momentum.

Now, when they have a completely elastic collision, the infinite momentum of the unstoppable force is transferred to the immovable object. But in doing so, the unstoppable force stops, and the immovable object moves. Their roles switch completely.

See? Proved with adherance to Newton's laws.
