    Unhappy

I havent gotten my scores back, but i definitely blew it in the math section. Reason being, im in 10th grade, i havent had trig(for me its in 11th or 12th), and 85% or so of the questions were solving identities, etc. I could of done them, its just, it would of taken along time as i hadnt done them before, and would of gotten very little done.

there were only about 4 trig questions when i took it. they only put about 4 questions on trig. the rest is geometry and algebra.

The funny thing is, these tests in reality dont mean jack squat, they really dont test you knowledge of a subject, just your knowledge on test taking, i mean, one can knock off 2-3 choices in multiple choice questions, just by elimination.

everybody loves to say that, but in reality, there is correlation between test scores and IQ, and also test scores and first year grades in college (this is what this test is claimed to measure). Of course its not an absolute determination, but it is useful, even if only for the simple fact that its a standardized test.

    btw, I got a 1450

IQ and standardized test scores are generally useless in telling what people will be, and how actually smart they are. My definition of smart is a problem solver, a person that is also able to figure out multiple ways of solving something. IQ tests just test how "educated" you are, but not your ability to learn and comprehend. after all, I may know the meaning of a 15-sylable word, but that doesnt mean I "understand" it, as in, using it with semantics.

All in all, they DO have an affect on your life, but, technically, they shouldnt.

for the most part i agree with you blade. I actually thought that IQ tests involved problem solving. But anyway like I said all of these tests and college and such is important for getting anywhere in this society. It'd be worth your (and my) time to just forget the fact that it doesn't necessarily prove anything and just try to get a good grade...in this case that's what a 'smart' person would do.

talent + hard work == better than just one of them.
