WooHoo another libertarian, actually i fall somewhere between libertarian and republican, err I should say somewhere between libertarian and the Non-Pyscho-Religous-Nutcase-Republicans

simply, the government should not pointlessly interfere with ones personal and economic freedoms

I believe in maintaining my independence from partisan labels in political matters; however, I suppose I could be classified as moderate in my political views: I am liberal on some issues and conservative on others. When I can vote, which will be in about one year, I will vote for the people who would best represent my views; most likely, I would vote a mixture of Democrats, Republicans, and, possibly, some third-party and independent candidates.

Death penalty: I am generally opposed to it with the exceptions of Osama bin Laden and members of his terrorist organization, al-Qaida.

Abortion: I am generally opposed to abortion.

U.N. membership: I definitely feel that the U.S. should pay U.N. membership dues and continue being a major presence in the international community.

Economic views: I must admit: I am fairly ignorant of economic concepts; however, I believe businesses should be regulated such that they may not sell blatantly harmful products to consumers, they may not commit crimes or pollute in excess of pollution regulations, and they may not illegally gain and hold a monopoly.

Marriage for homosexual couples: I do not believe that homesexual couples should be allowed to be married.

School vouchers for students who reside in failed school districts: I believe students who would otherwise attend a school in a failed school district should be given vouchers to pay for tuition in a private or parochial school of parents' choice. The money to pay for these vouchers should be taken from the failed school district's finances; after all, that's one less student they will have to try to educate.

The status of legalization of certain nonmedicinal drugs: Drugs with little or no medical value should remain illegal to be bought, sold, used, or owned in the U.S. Furthermore, I believe tobacco products should be outlawed. The tobacco industry is little better than the mafia. Cigarettes and cigars also can annoy nonsmokers.

The Afghanistan operation: I believe the U.S. has every right to bring justice to those who helped in the terrorist attacks of September 11 and the later anthrax-in-the-mail attacks. Osama bin Laden and his terrorist organization, al-Qaida, have been tied to previous terrorist attacks, such as the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole and the attacks on two U.S. embassies; they must be brought to justice.

Affirmative action: I believe persons should be accepted based on merit rather than race, ethnicity, religion, gender, etc. Universities, corporations, and other organizations should not be forced to meet a certain quota of any "minority group." However, they should not discriminate against a person based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, etc.

Reparations for slavery: I do not believe that descendants of African-American slaves should be paid damages by the government for what their ancestors had suffered.

Free public university system: I believe a wholly government-paid university system (undergraduate) should exist much as a similar system already exists for kindergarten through grade twelve. If this is not feasible, tuition fees for new undergraduates should be paid in full if that student chooses to enroll in a state public university right out of high school.

The Microsoft Corporation as a monopoly: I believe Microsoft has a monopoly, and the courts agree. I do not, though, believe Microsoft should be broken up.

The legitimacy of George W. Bush's election to the presidency of the United States of America: Bush has long since been inaugerated president; we're at war of some sort. If you are still complaining about this issue, get over it! Next election's in 2004!

    >WooHoo another libertarian<

    Awesome. I'm not alone.

Let's see, here's some of my twisted political views:

Abortion: Against it, even when the woman was raped.

Death penalty: Against it (even including bin Laden). Making an exception like this like some of you have done seems hipocritical in my eyes...

Drugs: I don't know. I know for sure that marijuana should be legalized due to its medical value (which is not little). Some drugs like crack I dunno. I beleive its a persons right, but no telling what legalizing it would do for the country.

Marriage for homos: It's their right. I don't beleive in same sex relationships, but dammit, this is America! Let the gays get married!

Affirmitive action: It's the businesses right to hire who they want. If they don't want to hire someone because they are black or white or whatever, dammit, this is America! It's the buisnesses right to discriminate! Plus its not fair to those that hire on merits rather than racial or sexual discrimination.

BTW, my twisted political views have no reflection upon the integrity of my character.

I know...it's just one of my twisted political views. I don't beleive in killing the unborn baby. In the Constitution it says no one shall be deprived of life, etc. without due process.

The only time I could even think about abortion being okay is when the mother's life is in danger and the only way for her to survive is to abort.

    But not even rape??

Personally, I'm in favour of abortion. I dont have any qualms with women having the right over their own body.

I also believe in legalising or decriminalising hash (well why bother fighting a war that will be lost) and I'm for the UK integrating more tightly into Eurpoean Union (Yeah, as if we have any realistic alternative).

I'm pretty sure everybody is against it. The
debate usually revolves around whether or not
the Government should be allowed to legislate
the womb. Or so's my understandin'.

Did you know that Madonna has had 11 of those?
It's supposed to be revealed in the upcoming
Madonna biography. That seems a bit excessive.
She's rich. She can obviously afford some sort
    of, you know... protection.

Drugs: Illegal to sell. Illegal to manufacture.
Not illegal to use. You shouldn't punish someone
for an addiction, but you should punish someone for
    capitalizing off of that addiction.

That's all I have to say about that.

To tell ya the truth, I agree. The only reason I don't agree with it here in the US is because of the Constitution. It's got that thing about killing w/out due process. If it didn't have that bit, I'd say it's the woman's choice no matter what.

Ya know, that's actually very interesting philosophy. Never thought about that...

But, what if the drugs aren't addictive?

Death penalty: I am for the death penalty for rely serious crimes.

Abortion: I am pro choce, I belive it is up to the parents to decide. I have no clue what I would decice.

U.N. membership: I think we should pay are dues. Also it should be combined with nato.

Economic views: Generly same as Cruxus. I don't belive companies are doing anything wrong with paying so little in other countries. Paying the same as they would in the US would just have them locate there factories in the US.

    Marriage for homosexual couples: For

I also belive that African-Americans Jappnese-Americans, Latio-Americans, ect. Seperate are country. We are all americans and the only way you can be African-American is if you have citizen ship in both places. And so on.

I Am against abortion, a fetus has brain waves 25 days after pregnancy, it is alive.

if you kill a baby unborn, why cant you kill a born baby? it is still under the dependance of the mother. it is uncabaple of abstract thought, very similar to a fetus. If you ever see a partial birth abortion, like i have, your views may change.

I am for capital punishment, merely as deterent for crime, fear mostly.

I am against same sex marriages, it makes it -MUCH- easier to cheat taxes, besides marriage is mostly a religious serimony, and most gays are not religious.

drugs: my mom is a dv/da counselour, EVERY drug should be illegalized. I have seen how abusive even potheads can be. Dont give me that crap about it not affecting someone else.

Economy: more or less, I believe that a balance in power between Coporations and people should be met.

Countries should remain more independant, if the EU goes down all of europe goes down, just an opinion.

What does it matter to you if people want to live that way??? Its a free country...... gay people (while i horribly disagree with their lifestyle) are still humans, and should get all rights that anyone else has.

Why should it go down? Is it more likely to fail than enywhere else?

Yeah...well those people can be just as bad on alcohol....worse in my experience. I spent a large part of my life growing up in pubs and there is no doubt in my mind of how destructive booze can make people.

If somewone is going to lose themself in an a drug or alcohol then they will do it regardless of legality. Just look around. Making one group of vices illegal does nothing realistcally.

Why? The US was founded apon the principle that a person has the right to choose. Making something illegal won't stop people from doing it. I see murders in the news everyday. I see many of my friends get months in probation for simple possession of marijuana. I see people drop E at raves all the time. No one is scared of getting caught by the police. Remember prohibition in the 20's and 30's? The same for all drugs.... Why not just let them decide since they're gonna do it anyways.

    Interesting topic* I received today:

"London, England: Possession of marijuana will no longer be an
arrestable offense, Britain's Home Secretary David Blunkett
announced Tuesday, in a move marking the first major relaxation
of England's pot laws in 30 years. Under the new national policy,
marijuana will be reclassified as a "Class C" or "soft" drug,
putting it in the same category as anti-depressants and steroids."

    I've always liked England

Yup ...something’s stirring in the echelons of power here.

As pot is now a “c” class, the proposed maximum sentence for possession is 2 years. And 5 for dealing. I think the latter was 15 before.

Also it has been recommended that possession in small terms should not be an arrestable offence. Supposedly they will just confiscate.

This must now the first step towards decriminalisation.
