    >>It might be hard to believe, but we are not afraid of any Iraqi. No Iraqi has ever threatened to harm me, so I have no intention to harm one of them for my personal protection

i think your missing the point, this isnt about iraqi's its about saddam and his regime....and i dont ever recal hitler or any germans wanting to harm americans pre 1941 so why bother getting rid of him....right?

I always find it funny when I watch a news report from another country - like the BBC reports...

They report on things and make it seem so somber - while the american news agencies are reporting on the british and american forces successes... today the BBC reports were all about the explosion in the baghdad marketplace and the BBC correspondent in baghdad almost made it official that it was a US bomb and that it was targeted there and only mentioned at the end that the bomb coulda gone astray - while american news reports that the bomb probably went astray and they base this on the pentagon that no targets were attacked in that region...also the news reports that this coulda easily been an iraqi SAM that flew up and missed and of course fell back to earth... then I realize that the correspondent in baghdad who gave the report is having his conversations and broadcasts monitored so he must give the iraqi version lest he be ejected like CNN was.

It's just weird that where u get your news from can taint your mood... the BBC really makes u feel like the forces and the whole campaign is going a-rye and getting bogged down - and the BBC is putting renewed emphasis on what the UN has to say now which means nothing at this point - unless they talk strictly of AID. The american news is overwhelmingly reporting that US/UK forces are adjusting to the guerilla tactics and countering them effectively and even destroying FEDEYIN bases - discovering masses of armements hidden in schools and hospitals - and of the iraqi chemical warefare suits being found - the latest news being that REPUBLICAN GUARD forces are finally being engaged and a convoy leaving from basra heading south, an apparent iraqi offensive, is being ripped to shreds by coalition forces.

Sunday was a tough day - a negative day - i agree but I feel that our troops are becoming battle hardened/tested and effecient at containing the iraqi irregulars and continuing forward progress despite a major sandstorm that has hit the region... I'm just noting that I don't understand the dejected attitude that the BBC seems to have and it makes me feel alot more comfortable watching american reporting...

i agree w/you on the fact that where you get your news affects how you look at the war...why we're there, how long it'll take, how were doing etc.

it seems to vary country to country, luckily i live in a town where i get canadian news, cnn, and univision(mexican tv)...although it is kinda hard to watch in spanish....they talk too fast

    >>ILLEGAL COMBATANTS

A military term like 'collateral damage' (== civillian casualty).

That is, they are called 'ILLEGAL COMBATANTS' by the US so you don't have to give them the rights due POW's under the Geneva convention.
Its not like they are even charged. 18 were recently released, no charges, no compensation, no recourse.

"The detention building has remained off limits to journalists, but released detainees have described being held in barbed-wire pens inside the large building, under constant electric light." NY Times

    >>re the tortured, sick, starving, thirsty, beaten? no!

    Not correct.

"Lindh was subject to continual verbal abuse and taunts as well as death threats. He was malnourished, sick and had a bullet wound in his leg. He was deliberately kept in this state until he agreed to answer questions. During the first two days of his detention in Camp Rhino, he was blindfolded, stripped naked, bound to a stretcher and then placed inside a metal shipping container without heating or insulation. He received only limited food and medical attention. Only after his interrogation was he transferred to the USS Peleliu, where he was treated for dehydration, hypothermia and frostbite, and the bullet removed from his leg—more than a fortnight after his initial capture." Washington Post

" The released prisoners' complaints come as the U.S. military is investigating the deaths of two Afghan prisoners interrogated at the U.S. military facility at Bagram air base, north of Kabul. A military doctor listed the two deaths as homicides, prompting the investigation. Human rights activists have also criticized the United States for detaining suspected terrorists indefinitely at Guantanamo and elsewhere without charging them with a crime." Washington Post

    >>WHEN HES EXECUTION OUR SOLDIERS!, maybe when he starts executing brits you people will give a $$$$.

Another unfounded accusation from D Rumsfelt's crew. Who is by the way the head of the Pentagon. So if the Pentagon does, says or achieves something he is ultimately responsible.

Or do you have any facts to back this up? (apart from that source in the Pentagon that refuses to be named, why so no comeback if it is proved to be unfounded)

Right. Read my earlier post and notice that I'm pro-war for the exact reason you listed. But not because this regime is threatening to harm me personally in a way that I'd need a strong US boy for protection, but because it's bringing more harm to it's own people every year than a war will.

The BRITISH reporting is starting to pick up and be more supportive and less gloomy --

    http://www.sky.com/skynews/video

The videos of Wed and Thurs of this week have a noticeble difference in the tone of their reporting...

Good point, and that is the point alot of people make when saying they are for the war(a friend of mine always says this!), however people fail to realize that there are much worse regimes currently in the world today. So it makes you wonder, why is the US really attacking Iraq? Overall though on the issue of whether we should be at war or not I really cannot say, because if I were in the presidents shoes I would not know what to do.

    novacain:

first in reference to your non-Pow info:

first much your stuff is out of context, i was as i believe the conversation was refering to guantanamo, they are pretty well treated as far as things go around the world,

and i am well aware of how Terrorists are treated outside this country, and that we usually give terrorists to the egyptians for "Interrogation".

    >A military term like 'collateral damage' (== civillian casualty).

it general referes to ANY non intentional damage.

    >
That is, they are called 'ILLEGAL COMBATANTS' by the US so you don't have to give them the rights due POW's under the Geneva convention.
    <

    thats the general idea.

    >Its not like they are even charged. 18 were recently released, no charges, no compensation, no recourse.

they we're deemed no longer a threat.

    >
Another unfounded accusation from D Rumsfelt's crew.
    <

yeah, if im not mistake he confirmed it and, i think Blair confirmed that they are doing it to the brits now, so STFU.

    >
Who is by the way the head of the Pentagon.
    <

    yeah, so.

    >
So if the Pentagon does, says or achieves something he is ultimately responsible.
    <

but it does not all go through him. rumors are rumors, some are put out some are let out.

You explain them being shot in the FREAKING FACE! This is confimed now, they are executing them, i hear Blair himself confirmed it was happening to the British soldiers, now i wil kindly thank you to shut up.

im not gonna waste my time remeding your willful ignorance, maybe if you paid atention to what was going on we wouldn't have this problem, don't ask me to fill you in on what YOU SHOULD KNOW IF YOU ARE GIONG TO FREAKING ARGUE A SUBJECT.

ill give you this advice WATCH THE FREAKING TELEVISION!

thats what the embedded the reporters are for.

this deserves some further explaination, since i realize it may have offended some of the Brits around here, and im sorry.

the reason i said this is that in the U.S. we care as much for the British soldiers that get killed as we do our own, i know i do, i have heard many scoff at our losses and then show sympathy for British losses as if ours do not deserve it as well, so you can hopefully, understand my anger, we fight together all deserve our sorrow.

no not a good point, ok, just because they dont threaten you personally dont mean $$$$.

    >however people fail to realize that there are much worse regimes currently in the world today.

this isn't an evilest dictator gets killed contest, they are a direct threat, it has been explained many times how and why, so don't ask me repeat whats been said a million times cause i wont.

    <

the reasons have been laid out thousands of times, look it up, and I believe our Government is privy to a lot of information we are not, and never will be.

    >...Less propaganda

    hah whatever.

Yeah I saw the videos of the dead soldiers, you can download it off of KaZaa, but no US news station has the guts to face the criticism they'd receive if they aired it. They all have bullet holes in their heads.

I don't think so... the BBC is still pretty bad - and there correspondent who is reporting from baghdad is still forced to report the allegations of the iraqi's as truth... listen to his reports.

This SKY NEWZ is pretty damn good - and now they are showing they are getting the BIG PICTURE and reporting on the progress and not just the insignificant encounters of troops in the field.

BBC isn't brilliant but in my opinion they are far less partisan than CNN or Sky News (aka Murdoch news).

Of course the best bet is to watch as many different sources as possible.

In 1985 iranian paratroopers pushed iraqi army out of faw
peninsula and captured the town . all the counter attacks
by iraq failed even with the help of russian & american
& arab help. until general abdolrashid(his daughter is
married to sadam ,s son ghasi) took over and captured the
    town back in one day.

that day him standing on top of a hill over 13000 corpses
of iranian soldiers , he was asked by daily telegraph
reporter as how he managed this great victory.

he said to him"my dear sir god made a mistake to create
    3 creatures on earth, jews , iranians & cockroaches.we
simply used the best pestisides to kill these cockroaches"
(meaning chem bombs since there was not even one corpse
with a bullet hole in it).

Now its your time to die you cockroach MF.

    burn in hell.

    Go yankee Go.

    *boil him first. ok?

those believing in inspection by UN to fix the problem.
Would sadam even agree to it if not by initial us pressure
    made just before the war?

Hi, SAMSAM. I realize English isn't your first language, but it'd be next if you'd just put posting on hold until you made a little more sense, m'kay? Thanks.
