    Premature closing of threads

In recent weeks, any sort of political discussion or anything with the least bit of importance have been closed prematurely and without explanation. I dont think this is fair. You mods should try to keep the discussion from turning into personal attacks, by warning or even editing or deleting posts. But closing threads for whatever reason when there is still room for good debate there is ridiculous.

Get over yourself - that thread wasn't anything of "importance". It was just going to degenerate into the same pointless stupid flamewar that all threads like that do. Then, people report it, and I get e-mail. I hate e-mail, but I believe I'm repeating myself.

We do edit and delete posts. Closing a thread that has merit would be a last resort, i.e. when the editing/deleting workload was to high.

If you are talking about that Bush poll, well, it was kind of inevitable that it would get hot, the originator even went as far as to ask people not to warm it up, but of course they did, it was getting out of hand.

Something you must remember, mods are not here all the time, and when they are, are giving up their own time to moderate. Sitting around reading stuff you are not interested in, editing it and deleting it is not, believe me, a fun way to spend an afternoon.

Of course it is important to discuss an issue like this

    >It was just going to degenerate into the same pointless stupid flamewar that all threads like that do

well then at that point, go ahead and delete it. Until then, give ppl a chance at having a decent discussion.

Well then leave the thread editing to other mods...

Isnt that to be expected on an issue like this? I think topics like this should be moderated less strictly because of the nature of the topic. Perhaps someone should implement a feature that will allow certain ppl to be banned from topics if they cant be civil

Alright, oh-easily-offended-one - it's reopened. If the .......... starts flying in there, it's going away quick.
