    I have a video question

    I need somebody to recommend a good video card for tv out. I like the 3d performance I'm getting on my GeForce 4 MX 440 64mb, so that's all I need. But I hear that ATI has far better tv-out. Is this true? A different community told me that the Radeon 9500 would do this good, and infact, do 3d better than my current card(I was considering the Radeon card before posting over there..).

    I'm going to be outputting to my 36" Sony Wega Flat-Screen..anyone know what card would exploit this thing, tv-out wise?

    Here's it's specifications (the tv)

    UGH, if a moderator wants to move this to the tech board, go for it.

    Yeah..the tv is bigger, and that's why I want to do it. I have like 5 computer games installed on this thing.

    Otherwise, I have a few movies, 40 music videos, and around 2,000 games that were designed for tv's(all through emulators, NES, SNES, MAME/Arcade)...that's my thing. Console and retro/classic gaming. Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Mega Man, etc.

    ...and for old stuff, you DON'T want higher-resolution. A PC monitor displays the dated graphics on those games. A tv, or arcade monitor helped blur the image slightly to hide the "chunkyness."

    My video card might be fine though, because Toy Story 2 through a Divx DVD-RIP download going through my current video card to the 36" tv looks outstanding...i-dunno, I'm always comparing soooo many different things which are designed for different types of screens.

    DVD = widescreen tv
    Computer games = computer monitor
    4:3 movies, 4:3 music videos, non-3d video gaming = standard tv

    I use Mad Dog Multimedia Prowler GeForce 4 MX 440 SE 64MB and it has pretty good TV-out. It uses S-Video interface, which your TV should have, seeing how it is a newer TV. The only thing I have that has S-Video input is my satelite box, so I gotta hook it up through it.

    My tv has all 4 major inputs. RF/Coaxil cable, Component, svideo, and composite/rca(not to mention tons of audio, etc. It's got 4 input channels besides the RF coaxil cable and a button to switch between then). My video card outputs straight svideo.

    Well, If you have a television that has 100HZ and is big then
    it's a good alternative to use as monitor because i'd like to
    see a monitor run 100HZ at the size a television and still
    maintaine a high resolution.

    You're correct that ATI has a better TV out than the nVidia MX series. In fact, the TI's have better out that the MX's also.

    But, if you want the best TV out, Matrox is company what you want.
