What are some good skills to have on top of computer programming, something that could be used for a job and something that isn't totally obscure. What I mean is like architecture as well as programming. Getting a minor in computer engineering or electrical engineering also sounds like a good idea (or taking graduate courses perhaps?)

There's a lot of companies looking for programmers with a degree in biology, finance, accounting, etc. Since most programmers don't have knowledge in those fields, those who do are more likely to find a job (and get paid more).
I agree with Terrance11, try to find a minor in a non-computer related field. Companies appreciate it a lot when someone also knows about other stuff than computer technology only. Especially the minors in finance, bussiness and economics are very popular. They show that someone not only knows about computer technology, but also about what else is going on in the world and especially what is going on in companies.
Well, for a minor, non computer stuff (as it's been said) is great. But, if you do want another feild in that area, look into the second option....dual majors. I'm going to be doing this when i go to college. See, the key is, many courses in related feilds share large amounts of classes (for example, im taking CS and elec eng and they share all but 2 math classes, as well as a few others). Then go get your minor in something else (i'm getting mine in either biology or psychology/maybe sociology).
Either way, don't limit yourself to a major and minor, look for loopholes, a company see's a kid come out of the chute with 2 degrees plus a minor and he's definetly got the job over any other schmoe with one degree, whether the second degree applies to the job or not, just becuase it shows he/she is a hard worker.

I agree with the more than one major/minor idea. Depending which college I go to, I may be taking two to three majors, not sure what minor yet. I know for sure I want to do Computer Engineering (but some schools don't offer this, so CS/Electrical Engineering double major), and then probably Mechanical Engineering. I may minor in something non-computer/non-engineering related. Just have to see what the course load looks like...
