My idea of the ideal railgun is the one featured in Red Faction where the scope can see through walls. (Gamma vision?) In that case I can take out like 3 targets with one slug if they're collinear... hmm ill shutup now

Yeah! I love Red Faction...a nice thing about the railgun: In the beginning where the big security vehicle is going across the ground and your on a catwalk: turn on invincible, weapons, and flight mode, go down, shoot the men with whatever the hell you have, arm the railgun, and shoot directly at the front of the vehicle. It just disappears. No explosion or nothing.

My point exactly.. Railguns are kewl..
In fact, any electrodynamically powered device is c00.
As for the railguns featured in games like Quake or the movie Eraser as opposed to real life railguns, the recoil will liberate your torso. And there isnt the decorative blue-streak of superheated air that follows the slug trail.

I'd rather a laser gun mounted on the sword. So you are far away, i shoot you, you die; you're close range, I slice you, you die.

I watch too much TV shows about ancient China that I've lost the urge to watch anymore sword fightings (but still fun to watch those special effects ).

if ur gonna go there, why not cook em with a microwave oven-gun!
Make sure your adversary stays still and rotates once every 30 seconds for 10 minutes / pound.
