The installation it's not 'damn easy' for new people.
But after installing, all it's easy, the package manager is one of the best there is.

It's better to listen first before making any comment.

Difficulty of Installing any OS depends on the experience, efficiency, knowledge of the guy trying and features to install and the OS itself.

When the installation process ask you so many questions, and you don't know the answer or even don't understand the question, in that case installing Win2000 server is difficult. And installing RH 8.0 is pretty easy.

    I installed
    Red Hat 5.2, 6.0, 7.1, 8.0
    Slackware 3.6, 4.0, 7.0, 8.0
    Mandrake 6.2, 9.0

    Windows 3.11, 95, 98, 2000, XP
    Windows NT 3.0, 4.0, 5.0

From all those experiences, I found installing and working with Slackware is difficult.
Here working with Slackware is because of my job, and I'm with it since 1999. You have to configure it, you have to make it work.

In case of Red Hat, I used it for proxy and web server only. It's my first Linux installation. You know it was tough, I tried thrice at my first night in 1996. and last time I forgot root password. I had to install again. I guess it was 5.2.

Now I'm using Red Hat 8.0 as my workstation. Though I found Mandrake easy with lots of features and easy configuration.

So, it's better to listen first before making any comment.

Right, but in this thread I guess the guy that asked do not know a lot about linux, because this, he asked a simple question.

Right, always rh and mdk were both easy to install.

About what you installed, I installed 3X. Not just linux distro's, I work with AIX and CiSCO, nice OS

Some people think and some not, I think it's easy to install, not as mdk or rh, but still easy.

Damn right, to get slack running well, you'll need to configure every thing, every.
