    A speech for english

O.K., I need ideas for a speech I have to give for English class. I refuse to discuss politics or religion and I have to be able to find 3 credible sources (I'll do the searching myself, I don't need help there). Any ideas?

What are the guidelines. They didn't just say "a speech" did they?

Last year I did a 50 minute speech on C++ and object-oriented programming with its application to games. If you're really into programming, then do it on something like that if you can. You can never run out of things to talk about!

Persuasive. 3-5 ninutes. Appropriate for school. I'm not one to take a stand on issues so that makes things like this tough for me.

Must your speech be serious? A teacher once told me that for a college course he gave a persuasive speech for two fictional products, Bubble Down Pop and Soap with a Hole.

You could just try to convince people of whatever you think is good or bad. You could give a speech saying that boy bands suck. You could give a speech explaining why object oriented programming is such a great paradigm. In that case, no one would understand you, and you'd have to get an A so long as you presented yourself well. Heh heh. That's what I did for my graduation project.

well, maybe you should take a stand on some issues, like abortion, politics, religion, etc. it would make the speech a lot easier, and a lot more information supports these. also it is a persuasive speech, so doing these topics will make the persuasive part of the speech stronger. doing a persuasive speech on c++, or anything that isn't really debatable, is tough. and remember, you want to keep the audience interested, and not everyone is interested in programming.

Abortion? You really think abortion would be a good idea? The kid just wants to do well in his English class, not start a war. I'm glad that my english teachers have specifically stated that they would not allow any paper or speech on abortion.

They're not?!! Oh, my god! How could somebody not be interested in programming

i just threw out some ideas, you don't have to do abortion, it is quite a controversial topic.

Only if it could be. But then again, the less people interested in programming there are, the more the people who are get paid.

I've talked about 2 different topics in English.

The Internet (development, engines, security.....): A, 50 minutes

The Art of Game Programming: Game Delopment, Game Genres, Consoles, 3D, OpenGl <-> DirectX....... and a lot of other stuff: A, 45 minutes

I think, that I would talk next time about history or rassism...

The "audience" being addressed is not necessarily the people in the class room. Most of the big contraversies are already taken and the teacher doesn't want anything similar to anything else.
