Scatters numerous data around the disc. If that data is being copied, the computer crashes immediately (BSOD, log out...), and if the source file (the file that indicates where the data are) are being read outside of the disc, the same thing will happen.

Drawback:

This will be very expensive.
Once that disc is damaged, you're doomed.

Suggest your way.

Whatever you scatter around your "protected" disk, some
Russian somewhere will find a way to unscatter it, and then
laugh at your folly, arrogance, and ignorance.

How about, 128-bit encryption with a key generated from values at scattered/random locations on the disk. If 1-bit is outta place the whole key will get messed up.

You encrypt some of the crucial app data used for installation, also, you take the USER outta the equation since a serial number - EXTREMLY COMPLEX will be generated from the values located at certain points on the disk.

This will only work for CD's as you will build the program to search the defined ROM mem locations - if the program is being executed on the computer - the memory locales will not be correct and mess up the key/serial.

You can probably throw in some false data in each CD to create different and unique KEYS for each CD.

-Also, the false data will take up the whole cd so there is always 700MB's of data on the disk - and if someone made an ISO/image of the CD they would have to send a 700MB+ file around Kazaa or any other sharing network.

- And the clincher, maybe you can create some special burning software that will burn a cd in a format that is not reproducable by commercial burners. Even if they burn the image to a CD-R their program will add a header or format the cd in a way that will not produce an exact copy and thusly mess up the decryption key.

For every time you blink, 2 cracks are made.

And an American based multinational will take some poor high school kid to court for posting the software on their site as an warning to the rest of us.

or threaten ISP's in other countries to cut off users who are violating their copyright.


Or work out that it can be beaten with black pen...............
