    Gaming Console?

I'm thinking about buying a PS2. but not quite sure about my choice.

How does the PS2 compare to other consoles like the gamecube and others?

    Which one would you recomend?

PS2 is the least powerful of the 3. Xbox is the most powerful.

XBox doesn't have too many great games out. Halo, Time Splitters 2, Fusion Frenzy, and... well... did I mention Halo? They've got Rareware now, so if you were into Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, Conker, or Donkey Kong Country, then you can look forward to more good games in the future.

PS2 has some great titles -- Final Fantasy X, GTA 3, GTA 4, and quite a few more.

Gamecube has, the best games (a biased opinion). Super Smash Brothers: Mellee, Super Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil, Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime, and of course, in a couple of months, FZero and... The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

I recommend either PS2 or Gamecube for the time being, but XBox may redeem itself in the future. If you are insecure about your masculinity and are afraid to play games that don't have violence in them, then go for PS2 , but if you really love great games like the Zelda series or Metroid or any other great Nintendo Series and don't care that there's not as much blood in the games as on other systems, then go for Gamecube.

I've got a Gamecube... Finding violent games isn't a problem at all... The only thing that makes me mad is that the PS2 came out first, and Sony managed to get exclusive contracts with developers, so some really great games aren't on the GC... I'd love to see GTA:VC on GC, but unfortunately, I'll have to wait for it to come out on PC.

Hmmz, well, my reccomendation to you is to do some research. This will be really tough:

Go to your local game store and look at the game titles for each system. Does one system have more games that you like? Well, there is your answer

I have an X-Box, my girlfreinds brother has a PS2. For about the year before I got my Box, he was always saying how great the PS2 was etc... Well, now that I have it he wants an X-Box too

I'd have to agree with Poly. I do like XBox but there just seems to be such a small selection of games to choose from that are fun, especially when one gets bored of Halo. I never get tired of the GameCube though and its selection of just pure fun games!

okay...so the X-Box is the powerfull one - PS2 is the one with the most games.......
I do agree that the X-Box does have a lot of "hidden" potential. But on the other hand, The PS2 also has a DVD player thus saving the money of buying a DVD player....OH what to do?!?

I've got the X-Box, GameCube, and PS2. Out of all of them, I use the X-Box the most. I can't remember the last time I turned on my PS2. The last GameCube game I got was Metroid Prime (Super Mario Sunshine before that). For recent X-Box games, I've enjoyed Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon. I just got Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers for the X-Box and although I haven't played it that much, what I have played so far looks cool. As people have said, if you don't already have a DVD player (who doesn't in this day and age), both the PS2 and X-Box machines will function as one. Halo 2 looks like it will be an outstanding game once it comes out in June 2003 (anybody hear anything different about this date?).

I have a PS2 and absolutely love it although I don't play games as much as I used to. I'm into sports games more and NCAA Football 2003 and Tiger Woods 2003 are a must if you get a PS2.

I have no opinion about the XBOX or Gamecube since I haven't used them.

I have 5. The X-Box, the PS2, the regular DVD player, and the two I have in my PCs, one in the old PC, and one in the new PC. I can play movies on any one of them.

I don't havce a DVD player. I am a poor student and though I could probably stretch to buy the player I don't really see the point unless you can afford a huge widescreen telly with surround sound etc to really appreciate the difference from VHS.

DVD will be much better once all of TV goes over to digital and they bring out affordable DVD ReWriters and disks so that you can record stuff off the telly and it will properly replace the VCR.

There's been rumors going on for the longest time that all 3 major consoles will have a price drop. May or may not be true but I'd pay off the loans and wait to see what happens after that.

You can't go wrong with either of the 3. Personally, I have an Xbox and love it. People complain about the lack of titles but I don't even have enough time to finish the games I do have.

    Let's see here:

Xbox - prettiest graphics, harddrive, DVD, Xbox Live, not a lot of games yet...Looking forward to DOA4 and Halo2 this year.

PS2 - Biggest selection of games including GTA, GT...

GameCube - cheapest of the 3. Can't go wrong with classics such as Mario, Zelda, Metroid...
    Try not.
    Do or do not.
    There is no try.

    ..

I actually just suggest pc games. If you don't have a top of the line computer than why not update your hardware? unless that's asking way to much, I know it would be if I had to do it for me programming machine/large mp3 player. But if you have a nice computer or willing to put in a little bit more money you might get a pretty good outcome because most games for console come out on the computer anyway; you could have halo, vice city and.. I dunno Neverwinter Nights on one machine. That's the best part; pc=pretty universal when it comes to games.

Pc games = nice!!! But I also want to break free of the pc and get down to some serious gaming on a console. I've loved console games from when I was a little child!! I still use my sega genesis 16-bit machine - and believe me, even Mortal Kombat is not as much fun as on a console

(P.S I don't think MKDA is gonan come out on pc )
