    Denmark win European Handball Cup.

    "Sejren er vor, Sejren er vor, Vi har vundet, Sejren er vor..."

    So, the not fancied Denmark side win the gold in the European Cup. You've no idea how pleased I am about that. The press here had written the side off before the first game - HA!

    "Sejren er vor, Sejren er vor, Vi har vundet, Sejren er vor..."

    Handball is not played in England - I don't know why, it's very popular in the rest of Europe and beyond.

    Sorry Ken, I lived in England long enough to know the difference! Truth is, here the UK tends to be called England.

    >>> Best player: Olga Assink

    The way Karin Mortensen played, I think she well deserved the best player award. I think Ausra Fredrikas the Austrian left back was fantastic too, but the rest of her side is just not up to her standard.

    I think the worst moment of the entire tournament was in the Denmark/Russia semi final when the Russians, (reigning world champions), were starting to loose, and their coach/trainer just threw his hands up, gave up and walked away. What an attitude!

    http://www.eurohandball.com (for example - there are others - google)

    There is a "Handball - The Game" option from the home page. In as much as it involves getting the ball into a goal by hand, I suppose one could say it is like football played with the hands, but really that is where the similarity ends.

    I know how the game is played. I have played handball for about 15 years. Stopped last year because of an injury. Still love to watch it (mostly on German television because there is not much handball on TV in Holland).

    The URL was directed to SC's comment, hence me quoting him.

    The amount of coverage on television seems to be increasing year by year, we have live matches pretty much every weekend, and of course all the international club matches and national side matches are covered. What is a real shame is that some are carried by channels I cannot see. All of Denmarks matches were shown live, but only a few of the others were shown on channels I could see, (mostly Swedish channels).

    What I would really like to see is the Hungary/Jugoslavia match, 43:39 I believe was the final score, that works out at a goal every 40 seconds or so - phew!

    Yeh, sorry about that.

    So you never played handball and you love to watch it? Strange because most people who don't play it also don't like to watch it.

    Well I missed almost all of the matches in Denmark... hope I can see some live matches of the world cup in Portugal next month.
