    PHP and Cookies

I am writting some scripts for my site in PHP and I am using cookies. I am able to use a cookie for 1 session but as soon as someone closes the browser window the cookie that was being used is no longer available. I was wondering how I could use a cookie(s) so it would be long term. For example the cboard forum (which is php). You can leave close the browser window and come back and it remembers your login info and when you were here last...

A link to a tutorial or something would be fine. Thanks a lot!
