log in to aol and then open and use IE. i think this avoids filtering. still can't get e-mail though.

First part very very correct... second part most likely not correct. AOL should have a pop server or an "away-from-home" http server that you can get mail from. You will need to go to their help page to find out if they do.

    POP
Get the pop/smtp server addresses.... make a temporary login account on outlook express (assuming default windows install... otherwise get a mail client). Put in the addresses in the appropriate places while adding the user. Add username/password. Check mail. Delete mail and user account... the end.

    HTTP
Follow instructions given by AOL help.

    There is always a way.

uh, well the e-mail thing is hotmail, so I dunno if I can get outlook to connect to a hotmail account...

And I doubt AOL help is gonna help us out on how to get past the parental controls in IE...it worked on general setting, but not on his new restricted setting (heh, lets not get into why.. ) I was just wondering if they stored pcontrol IDs in plain text somewhere. I even checked the registry (wasn't there, though) ugh this is so damned annoying...

any more ideas (besides installing a keylogger and getting his mom's password.
