    Although it would be much better for employers everywhere if people couldn't fake this stuff...

    Yeah, 'cos most interviewers don't know anything about anything, and won't be able to see through the lie [/sarcasm] Get real, what if Smith was to say he was an experienced coder, then he got asked to describe a particular programming scenario?

    Smith, no offence meant here, but I hope you CV and job application are better typed than you're post. Good presentation would be a nice starter.

    for that question simply say
    >>"Do i have to say i'm hardworking or some ****"

    this will teach the employer more about you than anything else you could say or do.

    @Smith

    Things to think about...

    Are you:
    - hard working
    - quick learning
    - willing
    - keen
    - timely
    - organised
    - self motivated
    - conscientious
    - adaptive to change
    - a team player
    - equipped with the relevant education

    Think about how you can back these things up with examples, rather than just being able to recite them.

    Research the company, eg find out what they actually do, who their customers are, how much money they make etc.

    Think about your reasons for applying for a job at this particular company, and be prepared to tell them why. The answer to "why do you want to work _here_?" is not "becuase I need the money". Try to come up with something a little more company orientated.

    Wear a suit, relax, and enjoy the interview. And don't forget to ask them questions, you're there to interview them too, you know?!

    >>> Wear a suit

    ... if that is normal practice where you are, here, you'd get a funny look!

    Can I come join you... please... It'd be so nice to be able to wear whatever you wanted.

    As my summer scholarship I worked as a paint chemist. We had to wear shirt, tie and pants. I couldn't think of anything more inappropriate. Do you paint in your posh stuff?
    No, neither do I but I had to do an 8hr day working like that. As long as your not in rags you should be able to wear what your comfortable in, it couldn't hurt morale.

    The company before this one had an American guy as Technical Director. When we met for the first time, I had a normal pair of trousers on and a reasonably tidy T shirt, he had jeans on. He apologised to me for his scruffy appearance, he had been told what to wear by his colleagues. I told him to relax - after that, I think he felt a lot better, certainly, when I told him he needed me and he needed to pay me "x" he seemed very agreeable.

    I find the concept of employing clothes weird. My mother could put on a suit, but she would not be able to switch on a computer.
