yah well good luck figuring out how to implement if ([code]){smileys=0}Actually, I believe you're allowed to modify the board software....They actually promote code "hacks" on the vB site.
Yes, away with 'em!
No, they make a cute addition to boring code...
What are smileys?
What is a Code Tag?

actually it wouldn't be that hard to implement

hmm... it would be a nice change. i think the determining factor here is whether or not webmaster is willing to do it. (messing with the forum source code is no easy task, especially in light of problems before.
do you have the slightest clue about what youre talking about?actually it wouldn't be that hard to implement
My point was more along what ygf said... does webmaster want to actually dabble in the code, or leave the beast alone.Originally posted by -KEN-
Not neccesarily...they obviously give you the source (seeing as that's the only way to do it and all). FD's made multiple code changes to the boards...

When all else fails, read the instructions.
If you're posting code, use code tags: [code] /* insert code here */ [/code]
i say members look at the source code, find the file that needs to be edited, and tell the webmaster(who is that by the way?) how to do it step by step
Yes I do jerkoff.do you have the slightest clue about what youre talking about?
I program php, and I'm pretty sure you don't, otherwise you'd know it wouldn't be that hard either.

i'm assuming the source is at vbulletins site, i'll download it and be back to you later. If they can parse the smilies then it's easy to just format ;) within code tags as ;).

Good Lord, man! Don't tell us that! Tweezers were NOT meant to be used like that....
now hold on a second
you have to be a member to download the source from their site...how the heck do i get my hands on the source?

What, you think everything in life is free ?! Come on, these guys have got to feed their families somehow...

The knack of flying is learning to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
yeah i just figuerd that out,
so why did cgawd say to look at the source? I can't see it.
Besides from what I've seen cruising around their site, things like
bold spit out html code for bold, so if smilies are enabled then :) is replaced with img tags for that smiley, easy to not do that if it's within code tags. When parsing and it reads the code tags then set a variable, and don't reset it until the closing code tag, then start replacing :) with img's again.
How's that for an abnoxious little queer cgawd?
