    Linux Games

i know red hat linux doesn;t support too many games. and i plan on getting a Red Hat Linux (probably 9.0 when it comes out ). but if you reply. can you please tell me all the games you know are compatible with RedHat Linux 8.0?

or, this would be better. i heard that you can actually run a small window with windows like future and can play any game on linux. is this true?

``WINE'', the windows emulator. When i last used linux, it was two years ago, and wine was really crusty and could barely run notepad properly, but they say it's good for all sorts of games now.

If you like simple RPGs, "Exile III" from spiderwebsoftware.com is a good game. Any game using the quake engine, in general.. UT 2k3 is also for linux (client too, i think). Jagged Alliance 2, etc.

If you're going to wait for Red Hat 9.0 then you'll wait quite a while. x.0 releases are usually buggy but the x.1, x.2, and x.3 releases are more solid so I would get one of those when they're released and not wait for 9.0.

8.3 is still a long time away. You should probably jump on 8.1 when its released. That will give Red Hat time to iron out some bugs in 8.0.

the onyl thing stopping me from getting linux is that fact that Flash MX is incompatable with it. if it was, id be getting Red Hat Linux ASAP!

Well, the only thing that can help you there is if Macromedia desides to port it over to Linux.

wasn't there some project out there to create a swf creator for linux? I thought I remember seeing it. Did Macromedia shut them down?

    im pretty sure.

macromedia loves windows. and some of their products are supported on linux. but none of the good programs.

programs like fireworks (which really sucks by the way, makes crap images and you can slice the up and put hotspots on em, EASY STUFF! psp can do the same) are compatable with linux.

not sur eif shockwave is or not. but most likely not.
