Three things you should never talk about...

    Politics, religion and women.

Don't ask me, i didn't come up with this short quote. I just call 'em like I see 'em.

Good luck to all and GOD bless us ALL!

Make love not war! A wise man once said.

"Be formless, shapeless, like water... You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot... Now water can flow, or it can crash, be water my friend."

    >No? How does it happen then? Do I have to sign some sort of contract? Sell a kidney?<

    Though Christ.

Deeds alone don't get you in, being baptised will not get you in. Though faith in Christ you will do deeds, but Christ is the Door.

    > Though faith in Christ you will do deeds,

Really... Well, last time I checked I didn't believe in Christ (at least not as the son of God), but I still do good deeds. I saw an old lady the other day and didn't push her into traffic, when I robbed the kids at the elementary school across the street today, I let the fat one keep his lunch money, and I haven't strangled or raped anyone in almost a month (except that one time). These aren't motivated by Christ, but I do them anyways... Hyperbole aside, kinda get my picture?

For the most part athiests and religious people co exist perfectly fine. THe only thing i would change about religion is this: Allah should put in special requiest for people not to kill other people for him. I don't like Allah, I would probably kick him if I met him.

Don't you think God is a little egotistical if the ONLY way to be saved from a fiery eternity of pain in hell is to declare him as your savior? Jeez, sucks for those poor people living in places where 99% of everyone is NOT christian and they really don't get a realistic chance of finding this out!

    Where did morals come from?
Murder is a crime not because of religion but because of morals. It is considered to be morally wrong to commit murder, not religiously wrong to commit murder.

Love your brother as you love your self.
That's great, but you dodged my question by telling me what you're religion says about murder. What if your religion said "Love your brother as you wish" meaning that you can do what you want to other people? Would you still think it's alright to commit murder? I'm hoping your answer is no.

You don't get to heaven by deads.

Basically most of the world is screwed then, right? Most people in the world don't believe in Christ but are still ethical people in their own right; shouldn't they be forgiven, too?

People becaume Christians all the time in the Middle East, and often times are killed. There is something odd about how despite the fact More Christians have been killed for their faith in the 20th century than have been killed in the total history of Christianity.

If they have god in there're heart.

    believe in Christ
People get kind of confused because "believe" in this sense
does not mean that you just believe that Jesus exist. It
means that you follow Jesus's message.

Sentaku was not saying it's impossible to do good deeds if you haven't accepted Jesus as Savior.

Here's the deal (if you disagree, so be it. I'm not arguing who's right or wrong, just telling you what I BELIEVE):

I am a sinner. I was born that way. We all were. For 21 years of my life I lived as a sinner (ie: did not accept by faith that Jesus died for my sins and was resurrected after 3 days).

Living as a sinner I did not kill anyone or rape anyone, but to God there is no difference between what we might consider little sins and big sins. He makes no distinction. God is light, in whom there is no darkness at all. So irregardless of how petty we think a sin is, He, being holy, has no fellowship with it.

When I was 21 I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. This means that I came to believe that:
    1. He is the son of God manifest in human flesh
    2. He lived a 100% sinless life (the only one to ever do so)
    3. He died on a cruel cross taking on Himself the sins of the world out of love
    4. 3 days later He rose from the grave and spent 40 days ministering to His disciples and followers
    5. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the righthand of the Father, praying for me right now.

I repented of my sins and asked Him to forgive me. I did not deserve for Him to sacrifice Himself for me. None of us do. But He did it because He loves us.

If you want to argue great theological insights, I may or may not be able to oblige. I'm not saying I know everything about God. The beauty of it is that I don't have to. All I have to know is that He is in control (Romans 8:28) and that I can trust Him because He loves me.

Believing in Jesus doesn't mean that we don't sin anymore. We all sin. By way of discernment through the Holy Spirit you can recognize temptation for what it is and avoid the sin. We don't always do it because we're human. Being human means we have a free will.

It's up to each one of us to choose.

For each of you here who's made fun of God or argued against His existance and/or Jesus true nature/life, know that I'm praying for you.

And if you want to laugh at me for it, then go ahead. I don't mind. If you want to call me a narrow-minded simpleton, then go ahead. I won't mind that either.

Know that I'm not calling anyone here names or trying to argue. I'm just saying that when I die, I'm going to heaven, and if it weren't for my relationship with Jesus Christ that wouldn't be the case. That's what I believe. If you don't agree with me, that's your call.

Once again where do morals come from?
Morals come from what you think is either right/wrong or what the general population finds to be right/wrong. I find it to be immoral to murder someone when the justification isn't there. Justifcation for murder is protecting yourself or forcing a penalty upon someone by means of murder. An example of immorality would be to benefit yourself by harming another person, by simply just harming another person in any way shape or form, or by making an action that could potentially lead to harm of another person. Harm can really be a multitude of things in this case, such as stealing or murdering. There are of course exceptions to this rule, though.

My religon does not, so I can not say.
Hypothetically, what if your religion did?

    It's not my call.
Yes, but shouldn't God forgive you so as long as you were a moral and ethical person?

If they have god in there're heart.
Shouldn't having goodness in their heart alone be enough?

People get kind of confused because "believe" in this sense does not mean that you just believe that Jesus exist. It
means that you follow Jesus's message.
You can still follow Jesus's "message" without believing in Jesus. Hey, I probably don't follow everything Jesus says, but I'm sure I follow most of the basic stuff. I don't follow the "message" because I believe in Jesus; I follow the "message" because my upbringing and my definition of morals fits pretty closely under that same "message". Believing in an entity (Jesus) and believing in a set of ways to live your life (Jesus' message) are two entirely different things. Now again this isn't even to say I know what Jesus' message is or that I even follow it.

jdinger, that was very well put on stating your beliefs. Nobody has the right to argue that your beliefs are wrong, but everybody does have the right to argue that their beliefs are right. I simply don't believe in God nor the religious story of what happened to Jesus. I've decided that I will take the approach of not believing in a God. When the time comes that I die, I believe that if there truly is a God that I will be repented if I have lived a generally moral life. If God is the only being to never have mad any sins then he would not make the sin of not forgiving. Besides the fact that I don't believe in God, I don't feel that there is a need for me to believe in God. I'm going to live my life the way I see fitting, which includes being a moral person, who happens not to believe in God.

This is what I meant. Someone with goodness in there're
heart will not be afraid of god even through
    they have never met god.

Beside morality, his message included also that he was that he was the mesiha, prayer, faith

    What about harming yourself?
