    Good for you,

You couldn't convinve them to change Rose from a software modelling tool based on UML into a full real UML tool implementing all the diagrams and notations of UML which can also be used to generate code as well rather than the really odd interpretation of UML that they currently use.

Damn good say RobS. A short while ago we were faced with the prospect of being forced to use Rose, (because our parent company does), but with external consultants who use real UML. The hybrid rubbish that was being produced was an absolute nightmare.

Luckily, the project collapsed before a line of production code had been written.

Theoretically if we wanted to use a CASE tool for 'UML' our company line (directed by head office) is Rational Rose.

The latest version of Rhapsody however is much closer to being true UML and would be much more useful for want we may want to use it for. We're trying out demos at the moment and may be able to get a couple of licenses for that.

Rose is however the only rational product I have any knowledge or experience of, I'm sure everything else they make is wonderful.

If only someone would write a proprer UML tool, oh yeah, I haven't got the time or money...

The consultants I mentioned had a CASE tool which they claimed, (well, they would wouldn't they), was an excellent UML implementation. If I remember what it was I'll post it.

We've found a uml consultancy and training group who don't recommend a single case tool. If you use one already, then they'll tailor to suit you, otherwise they'll advise you what to use in terms of what your projects likely to need.

We did a training course with them in which they spent about an hour ripping into al the case tools on the market, it was quite entertaining
