You could try and design a program which takes different peoples source code, i.e. the .cpp files and format all the files to a set standard adopted by the individuals and particular naming convention.

the hardest thing is coming up with somethign to do, i suggest something i've been working on, as the coding guru's that we all are (roars of praise come up from the stands) we tend to come jup with some sweet ass code, of which we want to protect. So, come up with a program that encrypts files, then try anything you can to crack it or have others try to crack it, do the best you can, you'll learn a butt load about security.
    PHP and XML
    Let's talk about SAX

    Write Quake 4

    Ok, seriously :
Write a game like DopeWars, but make it multiplayer. No graphics is needed, so you'll just have to concentrate on the networking part.

I can play DOS games just as easily as i was able to on windows 98, i don't see why everyone is always saying that i can't.
