Now don't get me wrong, I'm not against education, but you are talking about a $2billion+ proposal to lower class size, which has not been proven conclusively to have any affect on educational quality.

First of all, as someone who as taught, and been taught, I can tell you absolutely (especially from the teacher point of view) that small class sizes is key. Especially in elementry schools. There are various reasons for this, and to be honest I'm simply too lazy to type them all out right now hehe . However, I do agree with you that 2 billion is a lot of money, but it is something that should be done. Especially in elementry schools. However, some of this money would be better spen raising teacher saleries and benifits to ensure that top quality teacher are in teh schools. Lets be honest, I bet this nation looses a while lot of it's best teacehrs to the workplace because that's where the money is.

And fatty food causes obesity. I have a choice not to eat it just as I have a choice not to frequent a restaurant that allows smoking. There are lots of examples. Outdoor restaurants for instance.... sun has been proven to cause skin cancer. Should it be illegal for a restaurant to provide an outside eating area? Or even to only have an outdoor eating area? There were choices BEFORE this law. I never ate around smokers. You know why? because I wasn't forced to eat at a given restaurant.

first of all, ammendments should only be done through legislative people. That's a flaw. You can't expect voters to get the whole picture of the implications by a short blurb of text. Emotions play too big a role.

second, like I said, you had a choice not to be effected by second hand smoke. You never needed government to make that decision for you.

Doesn't matter. I hate smoke and cigarettes. Make no mistake. I just consider myself a big boy and can choose the restaurant on my own. I don't need daddy government to force everyone to live that way.

The damn republicans better not waste this opportunity to desocialize the country. I was playing with the budget the other day, and I managed to cut a couple hundred billion in about 15 minutes. It was cool.

I wasn't going to vote. And then I did. Ahhh the hypocrocy of it all.

Turns out the booths were right at the end of my street in a church. I was out checking the mail... went over... they said, "Are going to vote!" I said, "Is my name on the list." They said, "Yep".

And there I was staring at a half a page of judges that wanted to keep there jobs. Having only seen a couple of judges in my life... I figured 'Yes' was the correct answer to those questions.

As far as everything else.... it was all a blur.

I'm kinda disturbed that you know any judges well enough to recognize their names...

I'm kinda disturbed that in the most powerful democracy in the world, at a time where the worlds future is at stake, less than 50% of voters bother to vote.

But then I come from a place where >95% of voters turn out (or get fined $20).

The news reports even said this was a big turn out because of the interest of minority groups in the referendum.

All the news reports here say it is a resounding victory for GWB's war on Iraq. The people here seem more concerned with the price of smokes.

Normally mid terms only get 30 to 40%. Does that mean most people in the US would prefer NO government as they can't be bothered choosing one?

You fail to realize that most american actuly don't relize that there are not just two parties. From how they campain the only thing that poltical oppenites seem to run on is what is negitive about the other guy.
