    New Moderators Step 2.

    Hello all,

OkNomintation time has now ended and it is time to move on to the next phase of moderator selection

First of all congrats to the following people who have been nominated and seconded and will be part of the general election:

    Govcheez
    Doubleanti
    Iain
    Rick Barcly
    Kooma
    Nick
    Chenamnuael
    Cilent Strike
    Ken
    Zen
    Witch King

But this is not the end, anyone else who wishes to be part of the general election may write a 300 word essay (arent we sick?) about why they should be moderator and what a moderator should do. This e-mail should be sent to [email protected] and to [email protected] by midnight Tuesday (Wednesday morning) GMT. The all writers of good essays will then be added into the pool of candidates. Shortly after that we will open elections for moderators.

    Good Luck to All
    Kermi3

wait, okay, so that means that if we're on the list we *don't* need to write a 300 word essay? okay, oh, i thought you had that to narrow it down further... i was about to put on my [tasty goody] thinking cap... is this right? thanks...

The 300 word essays are for members who wish to join the other candidates.

You're nuts! Instead, why don't you write me an essay about your thoughts on having a message board that only covers 'unmanaged languages' developed in the 1970's and 1980's. Is this place just a playpen for programmers who are just starting out and learning the fundamentals?

Think unregistered is trolling? Seems like he is just trying to get the whole forum to start flaming him for degrading C/C++ .

I'm not degrading C/C++ because they are a good entry point into programming especially since C is still used for low level programming. C++ is the model for OOP and managed languages are born out of it. But this doesn't mean that C/C++ are not antiquated. Infact the majority of students will benefit more from learning JAVA and .NET related programming. So these boards should be added. You upgraded the website, now upgrade the opportunities for learning on this board. Or else explain why you don't want to do that.

ENTRY LEVEL!! MY *** VB and B are entry level...

    >But this doesn't mean that C/C++ are not antiquated.

name something that can compare... old or not they are the fastest... other than asm

    JAVA and .NET related programming...

IS FOR WEB ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 80% of this board is just not interested in Web Developement!!!! most of them want to write games, you can not NOT do this with Java or .NET all those(ie .NET languages and Java) languages are far to slow to do it... period.

Ofcourse you can write games in .NET. You can write games in C# and VB.NET or C++.NET

Also, VB developers are writing more sophisticated programs than get written on this board. Your Linux mentality keep you working in the dark ages.

    first off
    >Your Linux mentality keep you working in the dark ages.<

    i dont have any mentality...

    >Ofcourse you can write games in .NET. You can write games in C# and VB.NET or C++.NET <

first C++ is not .NET MS cannot claim it either so there

C# i don't yet know is speed or size but from the looks of it and the fact that its MS developed and what i've heard i will not have the speed to do serious game development VB CANNOT MAKE A SERIOUS GAME it is far to slow you cannot even begin to deny this...

    >Also, VB developers are writing more sophisticated programs than get written on this board<

don't start insulting... thats a very rude thing to say when you truly have no idea what we do on our own...
