    I really don't get why others care so much about drugs. If someone wants to take them, who gives a ****. As long as the people don't screw with me, I don't care. I think that all drugs should be legal, but, anything you do under the influence of drugs you should be accountable for. Doing drugs while driving is a whole different story b/c you are encroaching on people's safety.

    My Point: Do whatever the hell you want as long as you don't hurt or affect anyone else.

    Driving while stoned isn't difficult. I do it nearly every time I smoke and have never once had a problem.

    Driving while drinking however, is a problem.

    > Lightdawn not all drugs are addictive like weed , ecstacy,acid etc arnt addictive
    Acid will mess you up. I've known a few users of acid who talk like you type.
    The world is waiting. I must leave you now.

    Ecstacy can mess you up big time also, especially when mixed with weed.

    All you foolio's who are doing ecstacy, let us know when you start hearing those voices.

    >>Okay so the Born Agains in the house are [...] lightatdawn

    Had we met in the street, you would probably have the dubious honour of being the first person I've ever beaten down. If you're joking, I'm not impressed, and if you're not.... you're acting the idiot.

    Hillbillie has is figured out.

    But I think he meant addicting as in potential to be habit forming. Of course anything enjoyable has that potential...
    I'm not saying that habits are strictly bad. I just said that addicition, be it chemical or mental, can cause problems. If you're aware of this, then most of the potential problems go away.

    >>First thing first weed does not affect your brain in any way

    Dont lie. Anyone whos done it (i.e. me) will tell you otherwise. Honestly. Thats the whole damn _point_ of doing it... It affects your brain.

    >>Ha i dont belive this some of u guys dont even drink ??Sheesh

    Chill out. Personally, I down one (or so ) with the guys on a fairly regular basis. And I enjoy it. But I could care less if someone else doesnt want to. People are allowed to make their own decisions, pal. Respect that. I do.

    Look. THE FACT is you can not, and will not become a programmer being a "regular" pot smoker. It dulls the mind, admit it. It makes you feel run down and restless. Listen, I was raised by "hippies", so I know firsthand the reality of people wasting away having that sort of "lifestyle". How often do you program? Eight hours a day? Or more like eight minutes? I guarantee that if you never touched it again you wouldn't regret it.
    Code:
    #include <cmath>
    #include <complex>
    bool euler_flip(bool value)
    {
        return std::pow
        (
            std::complex<float>(std::exp(1.0)),
            std::complex<float>(0, 1)
            * std::complex<float>(std::atan(1.0)
            *(1 << (value + 2)))
        ).real() < 0;
    }

    >Drugs don't necessarily ruin lives, stupid people on drugs ruin there own lives.

    No. Stupid people on drugs ruin other people's lives. And that is in no way acceptable in a society. I agree that other drug users may only ruin their own or no life at all. It's not the drugs fault. In my oppinion, anyone using drugs can do so, if he is in an environment in which his behaviour cannot affect other people. Smoking pot at home is fine for me. Going out and driving a car while stoned is not.

    I have not done any drugs in my life besides alcohol and about 5 cigarettes total, so I cannot judge how drugs effect people and behaviour from my own experiences. However, I know enough people who do and I can judge their behaviour and how it changes under drugs. In private I don't mind, in public I don't think it's acceptable.

    Seriously. Stoned_Coder is one of the best coders here. He's one of the most knowledgeable also.

    And cannabis affects everyone differently. It's not fair to say that it automatically causes you to be dumb. Like I said in a previous post, there's a lot of very, very smart people that I know who are also the biggest potheads.

    >THE FACT is you can not, and will not become a programmer being a "regular" pot smoker.<

    Give me a break. No, instead, just shoot me right now. If you call that a "fact" then one of us deserves to be terminated...

    >It dulls the mind, admit it.<

    I don't think that dulling the mind is a side-affect of cannabis. I will, however, admit that it CAN cause people to become lazy. It can also hender the short term memory, but that's only temporary.

    Echo nvoigts sentiments.

    >>L@D, you make some very great points. You just refreshed my hope that there's sane people in the world.

    I didnt thank you for the compliment earlier, Hillbillie, but... uh... thank you. I, myself, am constantly looking for that very same refreshing of hope.

    I'm seeing a lot of opinions that appear to be indirect quotes from propaganda sources. I'll reiterate an earlier statement: You cant argue about something that you have no experience with. I dont mean just "using" experience, I refer to any kind of first hand experience. It seems that law and reason differ in the area of pot (and other drugs). When compared to other socially acceptable (i.e. legal) drugs, we notice that there is no concept of equality or relation in the laws of controlled substances.

    The way I see it, I hold people responsible for their actions, regardless of any mind altering substance they may be affected by. If someone takes drugs that they know may cause them to act differently, then they should be responsible enough to make sure they are in a controlled enviroment. I cant stand these courts that let people off of crimes because they were "so high they didnt know what they were doing"... Not an excuse. You cant blame a plant or chemical for a persons actions. Do what you will, just be sure you know what you're doing.

    Summary: Responsible people having a little fun, isnt a problem in any way shape or form. Idiots taking drugs just make bigger idiots (which the law arms with an excuse). Blame the jackasses of the world; They ruin everything for everybody. ... And get your facts straight. Stop pointing fingers only because you've heard rumours thats its the direction to point.

    And ride or dies loss is exactly why I think drugs arent acceptable at all, there cant be the fine line of being "responsible" its just too shady. Loss of life is not acceptable just because someone wanted to get high, or "have fun playing a trick". If everyone could manage to be responsible with drugs, they would be legal, but they cant, so its illegal. And thats just the way it has to be, via law and morality. Since it cant be done by everyone responsibly, it shouldnt be done by anyone at all. And im really sorry for your loss ride or die.

    To inform the ignoramus pot smokers who think theres nothing wrong with it or it doesnt affect the brain.
    Marijuana's Adverse Effects

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Could I become chemically dependent on marijuana?

    Yes. When you’re chemically dependent on marijuana, it means you crave it and you need to use more and more to get the same effect. You may have withdrawal symptoms, such as depressed feelings, trouble sleeping or nausea, when you stop using it. Because marijuana is a lot stronger now than it used to be, people are also more likely to abuse it and become dependent on it than they were in the past.

    Is marijuana use associated with other drug use?

    Yes. Many people use legal drugs like alcohol or cigarettes before they start using marijuana. Marijuana is the most commonly used illegal substance in the United States. It’s often the first illegal drug a person will try. Sometimes marijuana use leads to the use of other illegal drugs.

    What are the common side effects of marijuana use?

    The following are some of the common side effects of using marijuana:

    Trouble remembering things
    Sleepiness
    Anxiety
    Paranoia (feeling that people are “out to get you”)
    Altered time perception
    Using marijuana for a long time makes some people lose interest in school, work, relationships and other activities. It may also cause legal problems. Using marijuana can be especially dangerous in certain situations, such as when you are driving.

    How can marijuana affect me physically?

    The following are some of the common physical effects of marijuana:

    Tremors (shaking)
    Nausea
    Headache
    Coordination becoming worse
    Breathing problems
    Increased appetite
    Reduced blood flow to the brain
    Changes in the reproductive organs
    Like tobacco, marijuana contains many chemicals that can hurt the lungs and cause cancer. One marijuana cigarette can cause more damage to the lungs than many tobacco cigarettes because marijuana has more tar in it and is usually smoked without filters. Unpleasant side effects from marijuana occur in as many as 40% to 60% of people who use marijuana.

    How can I learn more?

    For more information, call the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information at 800-729-6686, or visit their Web site at www.health.org. You may also contact the National Institute on Drug Abuse at 888-NIH-NIDA (888-644-6432), or visit their Web site at www.drugabuse.gov.

    If everyone could manage to be responsible with drugs, they would be legal, but they cant, so its illegal. And thats just the way it has to be, via law and morality.
    Heres where you're wrong. Very wrong. Lots of things can kill people when people use them in stupid (stupid, stupid, stupid) ways. Hell, vending machines kill people. People actually manage to pull them over on themselves. Do we outlaw them? Of course not. Its not right to restrict the freedom of many because of the poorly cultured and insufficient brain cells of a few.

    People die from drugs one of two ways.

    1) Bad drugs. This is the result of immoral, bad, people. These people are using the drug as a medium. Just because some twisted fool somehow got razor blades into baby food in that crazy scare some time ago, nobody went around petitioning for the banning of baby food. That would be ridiculous. We just need the banning of twisted fools.

    2) Lack of responsibilty/intelligence on the part of the user. i.e. ODing, mixing incorrectly, etc. This isnt the drugs fault either. I work with all kinds of deadly tools all day long. If I was a retard, I'd have chopped off all my appendages a long time ago and probably fallen to my death countless times. Fact is, I know my tools, and I know what I should and shouldn't do with them. So I'm still breathing, and I can count to five on each hand.

    >>Could I become chemically dependent on marijuana?

    You can actually be "physically" dependant on all kinds of things. Sugar being one of them. You will actually get withdrawls and all other normal symptoms. You're body can get used to anything (and will). Though it is difficult to draw a line between cravings and dependancies, I guarantee that there are different levels of addiction. Compare: People on smack. People on weed. Its easy enough to stop smoking pot. I know many people who have, cold turkey, with never a second thought. That doesnt sound too addictive to me. Especially while so many walk around with a cigarette in their mouths telling me "I can quit any time... really... honest! I'll do it next week... or the one after..."

    And the symptoms you list (if accurate) are far far less severe than the symptoms of most prescription, and many over-the-counter, drugs. So whats your point? If you actually get any of these symptoms (and I dont know anyone who has) then you can either decide that its worth it (as the prescription drug users do) or you can stop. Big deal.
