Ramones!! Man it's been so long!!!
Speaking of punk, do you remember:
-circle jerks
-the exploited
-suicidal tendencies
-the misfits
-sex pistols
-butthole surfers
Ha!
Sadly, I was overexposed to 60's/70's music growing up and can't even tolerate even the best ones any more ( even pink floyd :( )
These days I hardly ever listen to music (nor watch tv). It breaks my concentration when I'm programming. Which means the only song I ever listen to is the "Sound of Silence"...:D
i love the circle jerks, and the exploited. Sex pistols i think are way overrated. I hate their music but respect them for what they did for the punk scene. Completely hate the misfits too. I'm not too big on the suicidal tendencies, but someone gave me one of their cd's a while back and it was decent. As far as pink floyd, hell it's the what 2000's now, and they're still way overplayed ( :
Sebastiani and hostensteffa, familiar with any of the following?:
cock sparrer
peter and the test tube babies
blanks 77
combat 84
blitz
angelic upstarts
cockney rejects
slaughter and the dogs
the business
the clash
I don't suspect you've heard of any (except for the Clash), but if you have, GOOD FOR YOU. They're all definitely some classy music :)
Music is my thing...
The Ramones
The Clash
Magnified Plaid
Dead Kennedys
Black Flag
Henry Rollins Band
At The Drive-In
UK Subs
Rancid
Operation Ivy
Lars Fredricksen And The Bastards.
Bob Marley
Buju Banton
The Huntingtons
NOFX
Five Iron Frenzy
The Aquabats!
Less Than Jake.
Reel Big Fish
Jello Biafra (If he counts as a band)
Blind Guardian
Iron Maiden
Queen
Some Stuff I Forgot.
Mixed crowd of Reggae, Power Metal, Punk, Ska-core and Queen.
Oh.. You asked what my favorite band was! Not bands! ;)
My favorite would have the be The Ramones, no doubt in my mind. I love Joey (Even if he's dead).
If I had to pick a single band, it would probably have to be Pink Floyd, as I have them on most often, but I go for weeks without them some times. It is very much a mood thing.
Variety is the spice of life, (and chilli is the spice of food).
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
(Dark poetic verse like 'Red Right Hand')
The Cruel Sea
(checkout 'The Honeymoon is Over' album)
Hoodoo Gurus
(checkout 'Stoneage Romeos' album)
Mental as Anything
('Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll' & 'If you leave me can I come too?")
[ All Aussie bands ]
Single band would have to be Guns and Roses. And the best album, in my eyes, is appetite(sp) for destruction.
Most of the punk bands above, also
Talking Heads
Joe Jackson
Elvis Costello
B-52's
Dirty Looks
Let's Talk About Girls
Was (Not Was)
Zappa
The The
The Jam
Style Council
Dead Boys
Lene Lovich (at times)
Decline of Western Civilization (ok, it's a soundtrack)
Led Zeppelin
New York Dolls
Lou Reed
Johnny Thunders
Allman Brothers
Patty Smith
More I can't remember....
Cradle Of Filth
Dimu Borgi
Children of bodum
System of a down
/*edit - Ramstein
Opeth
System Of a Down
Megadeth
Also Genesis when Peter Gabriel was still in the band. The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway record album's liner notes alone were worth the price.
Early Pink Floyd, Umma Gumma, Meddle, etc, although Animals was good too.
Favorite band: Christian Death (Rozz Williams Era, not Valor)
Other Faves:
Eva O Halo Expiernce
Ikon
Switchblade Symphony
VnV Nation
Mephisto Waltz
Faith and the Muse
Premature Ejaculation
Heltier
Aphex Twins
Drakus Koratta (sp?)
And other's I can't remember now.
I love pink floyd but even i cant listen to Ummagumma!
They must have had some bad acid before writing that album.
Meddle on the other hand is excellent.
Set the controls for the heart of the sun!
