we all knew prelude was going to win, and she is

even if, somehow, she didn't win, i would still want her to at least mod the C/C++ forums.

Prelude, although I think she wrote she didn't really want the job. Well, that's what she gets for staying in...

    >>prelude accepted the nomination, at least that's what it says on the moderator nominations thread.
... but she did write this. I am presuming that this wasn't a serious remark, and that she is actually still wanting to be a mod.

    >>worse comes to worse, it's fordy's job.
If it does come to this, which I seriously doubt, I personally think a revote is in order, the second place person shouldn't automatically get the job. I'm not just saying this because I'm loosing (badly ), I'd say it even if I were in second place. The reasoning is simple, there are currently 22 people voting for Prelude, we have no idea who they would have voted for if she wasn't in the runnings. OK, it would probably still be Fordy, which is still a good choice, but to be fair, a revote would be the way to go.

Now come on Prelude, get back on here and tell us what you think

    >>worse comes to worse, it's fordy's job.
... no, worse comes to worse, it's SeriesX job

Hammer has a good point about not automatically picking the person in second place. Although, I did vote for Fordy. (GO FORDY!!!)

we should give the position to fordy, no need to revote. (this is if prelude doesn't take the spot)

I have little desire to be a mod, but if this is what everyone else wants then it would be rude of me not to accept. I'm one of those people who doesn't like power for fear of misusing it. Maybe it would be neat to be a mod, I'm surprised so many voted for me instead of those whom I feel to be better suited (I voted for Hammer).

Aside from the above, I'm at a loss for words.
    [edit]
But the vote isn't over, and there are still many who haven't voted. So there.

Actually, I can see why you would be a bad moderator. First of all, you obsess over minute details like void main(), fflush(stdin), and gets(). Your method of dealing with people is to ignore them when they get rude, and give them a lightly worded notice when they go outright crazy.

As a moderator your extensive knowledge of programming is not as important as your ability to handle problems and people. A moderator is not a step up from Member; it's a step sideways. People will still respect you the same way, moderator or not.

You're a unique, liked personality, but you're not a moderator.

I have little desire to be a mod, but if this is what everyone else wants then it would be rude of me not to accept.
It wouldn't be rude; it would be intelligent. Accepting a job is your business alone. If you feel you're not qualified don't feel any obligation to become a moderator because of a poll of 30+ people out of 4000.

A (possibly) fatal flaw that I have is to push myself to excel at something if people tell me that I can't do it or wouldn't be good at it. That's how I got into programming. I would like to believe that when given the responsibility of dealing with such issues, I would try harder to do so instead of leaving it for someone else. So far it hasn't been up to me to resolve conflicts, so I ignore them as best I can.

I think troll king should be mod because he can bench 600 pounds and beats up big mean truck drivers (and programmers).

perhaps a system of parrallel powers should be implemented wherein there are two chains of rank.

    administrative chain:
    admin
    super mod
    mod

    establishment (respect?) chain:
    God(ess) among Men
    demi-God
    established Member
    senior member

God(esse)s among men would be people like DavidP, Salem, and l@d.

I would be somewhere between demi-god and established member.. DA, -ken-, Hillbillie, ang Govt are somewhere between gods amongst mena nd demi-gods.

    Prelude,

Aren't you a mod on FlashDaddee now? And as far as YGF saying you have a light touch (maybe not how he'd phrase it), the vote is for supermod, isn't it? I don't really know what a supermod would do, since presumably most stuff would be handled by the individual board mods, but at that point a light touch should be all that's needed. I think.
I think you handle people here much better than many, myself included.

Prelude, Novacain(voted for him) and Civix deserves this moderation slot alot more than Aran Elus. If Aran becomes mod I'll never post here. I'll probably give away my account.
