Has no one bothered to look this up?
    Code:
    GUI (goo'e)
    n.
An interface for issuing commands to a computer utilizing a pointing device,
such as a mouse, that manipulates and activates graphical images on a monitor.
    http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=GUI

Don't forget that the people who come up with these things are far from serious. The whimsical variation is usually the correct one.

    Gooey...

I always said sql as S-Q-L before I went to a MS event and the guys there called it "sequel"... I figured they were probably more right than me.

Gooey. Always have. Its faster to say. Plus its a conversation piece if mentioned around the computer illiterate. "Say what?"

I think if you pay attention you'll find that its not the only acronym that has become a new word. I think I'd be a little confused should someone revert to saying certain actual acronyms. NASA anyone?

GUI is G-U-I and SQL is S-Q-L, damnit. I mean, if it looks like an acronym, how the hell else am I gonna pronounce it?

Damnit [trying to remember english class]. There is a name for acronyms that are supposed to be pronounced (i.e. GUI as gooey). I can't remember it though. Supposedly, it is a relatively new term.
