So, the question is: Does that apply to the avatars in use here?

Obviously avatars are some form of self expression. Most people create there own and, according to the article, they probably contain some deep and meaningful message about ourselves. While I do agree with some of the points the article makes (for example, when scrolling through a thread, I do look for avatars as a symbol of seniority - a post that probably has something worth while to say) I don't think that most here are as 'involved' as those at the Palace and therefore they aren't going to spend the time and energy to create an elaborate, meaningful avatar.

That being said...Lets play avatar free association!

[Stealth]: Yours looks like the cover of a Tool album. Can't remember which one.

Klinner1: A jumping Bart Simpson? OK, maybe some people do have a meaningful avatar

Some cartoon characters have very specific cultural significance and may even represent archetypal personality types

My avatar represents the existential hell that is life. Plus, I have no artistic talents and made it at work in Paint, so...

Ænima is the album cover you are thinking of. Everyone who knows me at flashdaddee will tell you I change my avatar quite often (here and there). I may change back to my original avatar that I created, but I'll see. See the attachment and tell me what you think.
