Ah, another amazing art by doubleanti! I see grievance in this. A form of oppressiveness and fear. Fear of a greater work of art. You must be the best! You have to outdo all the others. Very...very...unexplanable. Yet, stunning at the same moment. Another masterpiece by the famous artist, doubleanti the great. Well done.

but wait!!! there's more!!! [and i don't want to over do it...]

are you serious? i'd hope so... i really spent a LOT of time on this... let me give you all some history...

    ---

the first version was a doogie-howser wannabe type program... complete with blue screen... text mode, of course...

the second one was my venture into 320x200 text... not so good! as you couldn't read it, furthermore, it was slow...

my third one was a very minimalist of this one... no cool backgrounds or fuzzing... just a plain white screen... in 640x480 32/16 bit color... with a simple text color scheme... [i tried making an all purpous "S-DOS" stub, didn't workout...]

the fourth one was a lot like this one... but it wasn't as random and cool looking... i was _supposed_ to integrate all three versions with this, which didn't... unfortunately...

the fifth one, the current one... was supposed to have mouse and sound, but i don't have a sound lib that i built, and i think using the keyboard is good enough so far... right now i'm adding all sorts of options to change the view of every particular function...

    ---

oh... and here's more yet... i don't want to over due it... and i really don't want any naysayers... but maybe those would be for the best nonetheless...

i promise you guys that one day i'll have a demo... k???

How are you making the backgrounds? Is the background a simple texture that you made? Is it generated from code?

it's a code generated plaid setup... [flannels... drab... grungy... you understand...] nothing is grabbed from disk file except the bit mapping for the text overlay... [bubba... remember that??? ]

Just out of sheer curiousity, what kind of code can make stuff like this? I don't want your code, just a generalized idea to make graphics like this.

    > what kind of code can make stuff like this?

    hmmm... short answer: thyimble-induced freedom-code...

long answer... [like i said before]... code that fuzzes, does a plaid ordered background, and code that alters the graphics based on what's already on it... [eg, fading to gray in strips...] how more specific would you need me to be? just be really creative... and each frame changes the graphics, so it's successive and differing depending on what text was 'burned' in the background, and the current text set...

That could make some wicked desktop themes. Look at my desktop topic in the general discussions thread.
