    Notebook

I have been thinking about buying a notebook computer. I was thinking about buying a Dell or Gateway. Does anyone have any advice about either of these or any other notebooks? What kind of notebooks do you guys have?

    Thanks

Depends on what you're gonna use it for. Some of these notebooks are pretty heavy duty coming with DVD/CDR's, Geforce4 video, 2+Ghz processors,...

You can also take a look at user reviews on cnet. They generally give a good idea on what the machines are capable of.

I'm probably gonna get a Dell early next year as a desktop replacement. It's gonna be my new portable gaming machine. I might use it for work also

I am going to keep my desktop for games and things that require a good graphics card. The notebook would be used mainly for work and school. I have been thinking that maybe I would like to get a notebook that can play some of my games when I am not at home.

I have a Compaq notebook, 1.2 GHz Amd, 256 MB ram, DVD/CDR, 20 GB hd, WinXP Home etc.

It has worked well, better than I thought it would. I didn't have any experience with notebooks in the past. The only downside is that when you unplug the adapter the battery only runs for about 2 hrs. For the most part all notebooks are like that. I watch movies, program, and do homework with it. it's not quite good enough for a desktop replacement (mainly due to the screen) however it has not given me any trouble, I've had it for about 7 months or so. I wouldn't take it to school too often because people will try to steal it.
