    Dream Job... what's yours?

OK, so Govtcheez started this a few days ago, but it got WAY off track and ended up on a discussion of the hottest chicks on TV...

SO as I said in that thread, my dream job is to be a chip designer for AMD or a board designer for Elsa Gladiac... or a creator of a wave of VR products, both hardware and software.

    What's yours???

Well, as much as that other thread made me question my dream job (among other things), I'm still all for writing game reviews for PC Gamer or CGW....

Mine would be the development of console games over at Nintendo. Or working on the next big OS at Microsoft. I know a guy that is working on the security issues of XP. He has nothing but great things to say about that place. And yes, it is alot like the movie Antitrust (the campus that is )

Mine would have to be an Automotive Designer/Stylist. I would like to sit around all day just dreaming up shapes of new cars...

    <Rant>
First thing I would do is kill whoever invented the minvan and those stupid Pontiac Aztecs.
For those of you that don't know what a Pontiac Aztec is, basically someone spent several months trying to design something that is actually UGLIER than a minivan, a still provide less utility. No easy task.</Rant>

Ah, that felt better, thanks all.

    (said Govtcheez, as flaming began)

One thing you can't deny, is that as ugly as the Aztek (or PT Cruiser or Prowler or anything else) is, at least it brought some damn style back into American automobiles. I can drive down the road, and everything's either an SUV or a car that looks just like mine (mid-size sedan). There's exceptions, of course, but I (as dumb as this sounds) applaud ugly cars - at least they moved away from the oh-so-standard design 90% of cars have now.

btw - Pontiac's planning another car that looks a lot like the Aztek, altho I believe it's smaller.

Agreed, at least they are getting their heads out of the sand when it comes to design, "thinking outside of the box". What I don't get is, can't they see that this thing is ugly, like who was the monkey that had a good look at this thing and said "great, lets build hundreds of thousands of these things!"
I don't know the story in the States, but up here, they're dropping the prices by 20 - 30% of their original because no one is buying them. The only people that do buy them around here are rental agencies like Tilden and Budget.
If they are planning on making a smaller one of these monstrosities like you said (and in the meantime dropping the Firebird). I can see GM dropping them off like they did with Oldsmobile.
Sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes, but this is one of the few things I'm actually passionate about.

I dunno - every report I see says sales of them are awful, but I see them all the time. Maybe they just stand out more cuz they're so damn fugly.

You want ugly - look at the new Caddys - I saw one last night... The whole front end was blocky, and the rest was normal. Like they're redesiging is a model at a time. If they get their wish, eventually all our cars'll look like UPS trucks.

I agree that we need more style on the roads-- but the Aztec was the wrong way to go.

And there are a few cars that are easy to spot on the road but other than the PT Cruiser, the majority of them are very expensive (Viper, BMW, etc) Although Jeeps aren't too expensive and still look like a jeep. (The wrangler anyway).

One of the new Hyundai's looks nice but I don't remember which model.

Oh yeah-- my dream job. I need someone who will pay me to hang out around my house and do things I like to do. Otherwise no matter what I'm doing, I'll be thinking "man, I can't wait to get home".

Yes, cars are definately getting weird on us. I guess that is what to expect with time. Oh well, that's life. If I had to get a car, I would go with a porshe (I don't know the spelling, but you get the idea). A nice fire-engine red porshe.

    Dream Job...

Well, I'd have to say a programmer at Microsoft or robotic designing anywhere. I would probably prefer software programming at Microsoft over robotics engineering, though. I'd have to think about that one.

I WANT TO BE A FOREST RANGER.

Just kidding. My real dream Job is to be a game developer. I would love to work on 3D engines and graphics. I would work in EA sports or Acitvision one of these big game developer/publisher companies.
Another cool thing about gameing industry is that it keeps improving. In the future there would be more Virtual Relity games.
But I wonder what education do I need to be a game developer?

    Jeeze....whats wrong with me????

I personally wouldnt want work with computergames (except if I was selling them for a huge profit)....Games just dont do it for me....Except Tekken on th playstation that is......other than that - no real interest. I even prefer to watch others play.....

My dream job would be to own my own business and make a lot of money...this would be in almost anything - I'm not fussy. I know people who have had loads of business's in all sorts of industries.....Just as long as the profit is enough....they seem to have a good enough life.....
