"Salut, le monde !" (French) (http://www.ftls.org/fr/initiation/perl/index3.shtml) Some odd grammatical rule of the French language requires the le there. "Bonjour, le monde !" also works (http://phpdebutant.com/article14.php).

Workd when I changed the encoding (IE) to Unicode (UTF-8)

    "Привет, Мир" - Russian
    "Привiт, Свiт" - Ukrainian

    Hope that worked...

Yup, above works in Unicode (not Western European)... only way I got it to work, the rest of Cyrillic would give me gibberish... oh well.
