That figure and the means to calculate is an exercise on probabilities and not even near an estimate.

Actually, the Drake formula is used to value the possibility of life (intelligent or not) in the universe, since the odds of getting 0 are null. Take in mind that you can't put 0 on any of the variables there. The simple fact that we humans exist don't allow for 0.

I could never understand the fascination over the pyramids. Sure they were difficult to build. But they were not something impossible at that time.
The fact that these societies praised knowledge to almost the same extent as warfare plus the fact that a society like the egiptian society survived for a 500 years without any major war surely helped science to develop. The fact that it relied heavily on human slavery, surely helped put into practice the most ambitious projects.

Scientists... or scholers... were important people at that time. Conversely slaves were not. Without disrespecting the magnificent work on those pyramids, fact is slaves were born to work and die while working. Given the time it took to build them, entire slave generations were wasted in their making... Sometimes it could take 2 weeks before one rock could placed in the correct spot. While doing it, 100 slaves could die. With such "working dedication", i'm not surprised the pyramids came to be.
