The American Constitution was the first complete written national constitution. But the Greek had constitutions on the old-time, when their cities were states. The old cities had governments and written constitutions. Like the Athenian Constitution, which was written by Aristotle in 350 B.C.E. And don't forget about Plato's paper on the republic.

    >>Actually scientific research/methods probably didn't start in

A lot of current math is from Europe, by mathematicians like Erdos, Laplace, Fourier, Lagrange, Descartes, Newton, Babbage, Riemann, Euler etc.

But a lot of people don't know that also Arabian, Japanese, Indian and Chinese math was also very well developed at same time. One of the greatest mathematicians ever was Ramanujan, a mathematician from India. He taught himself mathematics and did an immense contribution to mathematics and number theory in special.

    >American, or had Ameriacn influence somehow someway. "

A reason why most scientific breakthroughs have taken place in the US is because the US stimulates scientific research more than most European countries do. This is also one of the reasons why European scientists go to the US. European scientists like Einstein, Mandelbrot, Dijkstra did great contributions to science, but most of those contributions was done at American research centres.

The US has Yellowstone, one of the most beautiful areas on Earth. It also seems to be some kind of required Mecca for Germans. Sometimes I think there are more Germans in Yellowstone than Americans. Can't blame 'em, I'd live there if I could.

There's at least one reason to like the US. It's not France.

Guys isn't it time we dropped this anti other country stuff, There are enough terrorists out there trying to bring down the civilized world without us helping them. Besides it's getting really boring anyway!!!

I'm not anti america, but anti american policy, and anti americans dissing canada, and probably most of the people here who are criticising america would say the same.

No. The Welsh are a bunch of weird ****ers, Scotland's a bleak ****hole and the less said about some of the other European countries the better.

Actually France was the first country to do so, in 1688. You didn't do so until 1776. And you borrowed many ideas from it.
Oh sorry, the first fiar constitution that is still in place today. Not to mention, when France recreated a constitution some time later it borrowed many of the ideas from the American constitution...not the other way around.

Have you ever heard of the "Renaissance", which started in Europe?
Have you ever heard of the times before the Renaissance? Just because that was the flourishing period for Europe does not mean it was the flourishing period for the rest of the world in terms of scientific research. Science was not started in Europe, so get over it? I don't even uderstand why you're taking a defensive position with that anyways?

    The immigration....
The immigration what? All you did was write immigration and then a bunch of numbers. Care to explain a little further than immigration?

what I object to is bragging about all your inflated accomplishments and calling Canada "a jealeous little brother thats never good enough"
I challenge you to find a comment made by me that states anything closely related to me having harsh feelings towards Canada or feeling that the US is far superior. You might be able to do so with other posters but not with me, so don't bring that up as an argument against me. Get your facts straight first.

    Another reason to like America:

A reason why most scientific breakthroughs have taken place in the US is because the US stimulates scientific research more than most European countries do.
Thanks, Shiro, for bringing that great point up.

Guys isn't it time we dropped this anti other country stuff,
Actually enough I haven't been anti-[insert country here] at all. I've only been pro-American. Is there anything wrong with defending your country from false remarks?

Reading this thread I'm getting the mysterious feeling of déja vu...

...and another one saying:'haven't we already exhausted this argument a few times over?'

Not quite yet, you still have to wait for the "Another reason not to like anybody and everybody on this freakin planet" thread.

With that said, I hate everybody in the entire world including myself; they're too freakin humanoid.

    >>GET OVER IT!

Thanks Pendragon. I was about to post the same sentiments myself, albeit with a few more of those *'s decorating the text. As I've had a few too many suped up Cokes tonight, I've thrown diplomacy to the winds.

    >>'haven't we already exhausted this argument a few times over?'

The only problem is sifting through the pointless name calling and finding the little nuggets of intelligent conversation nestled within. If only we had an immaturity filter... One can always dream.

So guys: Get off each others throats. I'm sick of people trying to "defend" their country against people expressing valid opinions regarding something their govorment implimented. On the other hand I'm also sick of people jumping on the bandwagon and tearing a strip out of entire countries because of a few bad seeds.

I've considered making a private board somewhere for intelligent discussion of world events and the like. Admission by invitation only. Of people that have participated in this thread: Novacain, Pendragon, nvoigt, salvelinus, you've all been pre-approved (for platinum account of course).

Hmmm, sounds like fun. Just like something from some backward dictatorship (or the British House of Lords). Nobodies forcing you to read anything, but if your sensibilities are offended close the thread. Are you Canadian?

    >>Hmmm, sounds like fun.

It was said in jest, my friend.

    >>Nobodies forcing you to read anything

Of course not. I chose to read it.

    >>if your sensibilities are offended close the thread.

It doesnt work that way. My personal views dont factor into my Mod duties. And no, i'm not offended in any way. I'm merely disapointed in some of the attitudes being irrationally expressed.

    >>Are you Canadian?

    Maybe, eh.
