One or two suprises so far huh?

England/Denmark : Sad, but what can I say, we were outplayed.
    Germany/Paraguay : Unconvincing!!!
Sweden/Senegal : Undisciplined but talented, the Senegalese look clumsy but could go far. I hope so, it woud be a great boost for African football.
    Spain/Ireland : Unconvincing!!!!!

4 more 1/8 final games to go, and on balance, only Brazil have really impressed, albeit after a shaky start, (as usual).

Match of the competition so far : Brazil/Costa Rica - man that was a great game!!!

Brazil - I think they've yet to be tested, it'll be interesting to see how they go on against England.

How is that unconvincing, Spain had to take Irelad to penalty kicks to advance, that is not what i call unconvincing.

What happened to Portugal? I thought they were going to fire up, but they burnt out.

Terrible move by Pinto, I thought it was a red card for the leg lock tackle but then to punch the ump in the stomach. If that was Aussie rules he would be banned for life, no question. The captain touching the ump's face would be rubbed out for the season. Some players here have been suspended for a few games for accidental contact with the ump.

Totally agree with that.. real footballing skills.

El Hadji Diouf - oh boy that guy can get past 3 defenders with such freakin ease.

    >>who is fooling who..the philosophy of 'we will score more than you' is their failing

ohh yeah... thats why they are the best team ever and you can never count them out whatever their form is.

England have a very good defence and they are not letting many pass them. Brazil v England would be nice IF Belgium dont spoil the party.

But the great thing is that between Sengel, Japan and Turkey one of them might be in the semis and even in the finals. That would be fun to watch too.

You said it yourself, "Spain had to take Irelad to penalty kicks", that is not really a convincing victory is it?

    It would seem so, yes.

The team that scores most goals, has in my experience, usually done better than their opponents.

    USA! USA! USA!

(sure, we'll get shelled by Germany, but it's cool that we made it this far, and without 2 of our best players in the last game)

It was very surprising. The Mexican are usually a very good team. But it's nice, this World Cup is full of surprises. Almost all countries which were said to be favourite, like France, Portugal and Argentina are out. It's sad that the Belgiums are out, it would be nice if the Red Devils had beaten Brasil.

Tommorrow (?) is Korea against Italy. Interesting, I think Italy will win, but you'll never know. The Korean are doing a good job on this World Cup, and they are playing in their own country. Cruyff once said "The Italians can't win from you, but you can loose from them".

Have you seen the game against Belgium?
to say it in two words: Brasil $ucked.
I'm not saying this because I'm from Belgium but it is the truth. If they play like this. England will win with 5-0.

    >>England have a very good defence and they are not letting many pass them.
Can't say the same for Brasil.

    >>Brazil v England would be nice IF Belgium dont spoil the party.
    We almost did.

Oh thanks Shiro. ::sniff:: I'll encourage the dutch team when they play in the next European Championship and World Championchip(unless they play against Belgium ofcourse ) . They should have been in Japan-Korea.

Hmm, Brazil didn't look so good yesterday. The Belgians played quite well, especially in defence, but Brazil always looked dangerous on the break. They seem to read the offside trap very well and get into scoring positions where most teams get a whistle and a flag waving.

I think both Korea and Japan have played some good football, and they are very industrious, nothing is left to run out of play, it gets chased and sometimes recovered. They also crowd attacking players with their defenders making it difficult to get good passes/crosses in. I, too, suspect Italy will win, but that is probably based on past glories. The Turkey/Japan match is much tougher to call.

It was sad, sad, sad. Joao Pinto is the same thing here in Portugal. At last he made that final mistake that can cost his carreer. At last, because most here are tired of the embarassment most players on our team give us... Has anyone forget the European cup final against France? Enough is enough and our players need to learn the rules of playing soccer. Maybe now they sink down in shame and someone does something about it.

Congratulations for Korea. They surely teached us how to play soccer. They could even lose and yet played to win. They showed us how we used to be. That was the spirit that gave our team the status of favorite... Sad we seem to have lost it.

The Italians have lost from South-Korea. But was it a schwalbe and was the last goal of the Italians really an offside case? I'm not very sure about it. But congratulations to Guus and his guys. Now the Spanish armada, usually one would say that the Koreans will lose from them. But based upon the results again Portugal and Italy, I really don't know. There is a real chance they will win from Spain.
