I prefered the Pentiums up till pentium 2, then when amd released the athlon and it dominated the P3 in almost everything I jumped ship and switched to AMD and im glad b/c its saved me a lot of money, plus their customer service was better than intels when i had gotten a dead cpu.

No preference - have used both - have had troubles with both, but generally either seems to work.

    Same as Adrian....I have 2 pcs....1 Pentium III....One AMD.....

Though when I build my next one....I will probably go for AMD due to the price difference

    Thumbs up AMD is better

i will choose AMD because of the better performance which have the same processor speed between them. www.tomshardware.com which u can see the benchmark of teh 2 CPU and mostly will goi for AMD XP(right now).

I'm using AMD Thunderbird in my PC and P3 for my laptop.

    AMD is wise choice.

I used to have Pentium Pro 166MHz, then it died in the butt, end of 2000. Then I bought and AMD K6-2 and it's pretty damn good.

Just as a comment though, when AMD released there Athlon, it was heaps better than an equivalent Pentium of the time, which happened to be Pentium 3. And even now AMD out performs equivalent pentium's. AMD Rocks cos' its cheaper too!

    AMD all the way.

Intel just anounced that they are dropping the price of P4's by up to 50%. (particularly the mobile CPU's)

unlike anything you can say about microsoft v. linux, intel and amd are just two cpu companies. one offers cheaper chips. (but it is also much more capable of overheating). intel v. amd is like peas v. carrots.

AMD is bad. Pentium 4 is the best!

    Lets se the facts.

AMD,s processor is up in smoke when the CPU cooler is removed.

Pentium 4 keeps a temperature of about 30-40 degrees.

Hmmm.. A processor that has better cooling should have better speed.

That,s not correct in the AMD vs Pentium 4 battle.

AMD´s 2.2 Ghz Processor is faster than a Pentium at the same speed.

Everyone says the movie from Tom's Hardware is fake, and its just to promote Pentium 4 and blablablahbla.
I mean Tom's Hardware that made the CPU without cooler video has given Pentium 4 in someways a bad reputaion
by talking alot about their speed against AMD.
AMD = overheating crashing and errors. Pentium 4 = bigger badder better
    .. zzz soooo tireed.

This is usually followed by an explanation on the subject, you know something to support your statement, I am sure a few of us would like to hear your reasons for your assumption.

AMD,s processor is up in smoke when the CPU cooler is removed.
You also forgot to mention that most other high end processors do too.

    1) Assumption? What assumption did I make?
    2) I don't have time
    3) It's pretty obvious those 'facts' are dripping with his/her own opinion.
    4) I really could care less if AMD/Intel gets bashed.
