Thread: flag burning (don't flame!)

Someone who has not ever been threatened of all they hold dear is likely someone who does not know the true meaning of symbols. People who have fought and died for their country hold the flag dear. Why? Because it stands for their country. There is immense ceremony surrounding flags, and there is a reason why. Don't take life literally, you'll end up unhappy and alone.

If someone burned a MC donalds flag they would be showing that they don't like MC donalds, if they burn a flag of a praticular country its means the same thing. As long as it's their own flag i don't see how it hurts. No worse then complaining about the govenment.

I can't agree with you there. You don't know someone's motive for "disrespecting" a flag. You don't know the whole story behind why this person is doing whatever to the flag, so I say you've got no authority whatsoever to make a judgement.

Why is that? I myself have been threatened of something I hold dear, so don't even try to generalize me.

Personally, a symbol is something that stands for something greater than it. What this something is can be different to different people. FOr instance, the US flag means freedom to many people, but to some it means evil.

You know what? I'm pretty sick and tired of this anti-America stuff. For the last 26 years, my parents have sacrificed everything they have, so that their children could end up in America. If people hate America so much, SHUT UP, AND LEAVE. You go to another country and see what it's like there. A man was recently kidnapped, had Drano Foamer poured down his throat, had a needle kicked into his ear, was shot in the face, and tied to the highest tree on Main St. You know who that was? That used to be my Brother's best friend in South Africa. Do you really think the government is going to have a special meeting, "Ooh people! Just stay calm! Sean, I don't think anyone said anything anti-US on this thread. Maybe I missed something.

Still - there's a lot af anti-US stuff on the board and I get abit sick of it.
