    howdy,
Why is it so hard to understand that the best way to make US a safer place is to help other countries.
no where in history has peace and freedom beem succefully purchased, it is won and protected by superior militaery. political and economic tactics.
i can only speak for this one American citizen when i say, The American society may have many flaws but it has many more positives.
The US would be foolish to believe it could buy it's way into a peaceful existence. if money was the way to peace we would have peace. Clearly it is not.
So i must act how many other countries on this planet have armies?
Why do they maintain a military force?
probably not to protect their charities.

US never tried. Compare the prize difference between the war in Afganistan and the humanitarian aid US is sending..Compare the cost of the US military with all US humanitarian aid..Pathetic.

    howdy,
surely you are not suggesting that a few billion dollars sent to Osama or Omar would have saved the 3000 WTC victims. they specifically made it clear that they want us dead. they like Novican would have taken our money and shown no respect for us as acountry or as individuals.
and please do not be confused about one thing our 3000 civilians were killed long before we even started making any plans to attack Afganistan, or in other words they invited us to the party.

i'm not arguing that an american life is more valuable than an afghani one. they are equal. but al queda targeted civilians, meaning to kill a lot more than ~3000 people. the casualties in the afghan bombing are unintentional.

i don't care that we killed ~5000 civilians
i stand by that statement. in losing 5000 citizens we have made the lives of all afghani people better. fewer die. they have more rights. soon they will be able to choose their own leader. 5000 is nothing, a mere speck of dust, when you consider the welfare of a whole country.

    howdy,
by taking up offensive positions among your own civilians you put your own civilians at risk. using the technology of the day probably saved more live than were lost.
after all if you take the war a war in general body count does not win wars ocupation of teritory wins wars.

    >>In short: congress doesn't care about people overseas, except us citizens, the military, and ambassadors.

Actually it is GWB, even M Albright can't understand GWB's foreign policy! (you do know what office she holds don't you)

So why should we overseas care about Americans?

Lets rip them off at every opportunity. Make the world such a dangerous and rude place that they never leave the US. Ensure they all know they are not welcome in our countries, because here they will be treated here as your congress treats our countries.
If you act like the spoilt selfish child then you should be treated like one.
Is that the world you want? It is not one I want to live in but we must all consider the effects of our actions on others.

And by the way, your military consists of 5% foreigners. After their term of service you do not even guarantee them citizenship! (they can apply but must pay their own way!) If you don't believe, this look it up, prove me wrong.

    >>they like Novican would have taken our money and shown no respect for us as acountry or as individuals.
    You have to earn respect
I make one comment that I _can_ take advantage of Americans to give you a mirror to your actions, NOT THAT I DO.

And what I am saying is if you had spent US$64bill on Afghanistan after the USSR / US conflict, there would have been no Taliban or Al Queda. But you refused to help after the CIA had trained and armed the clans.

where were the governments, intelligents and $$$ of the rest of the world during that time, it seems that everyone else placed their respective tails firmly between thier legs and headed for high ground, which is the case most of the time, take Kuwait for example, we didn't see to many other folks on the road to Bagdad but still the oil flows.

Don't try to tell me that US liberated Kuwait because they cared about the people. If was 100% for the oil and nothing else. And what do US do now? US never raised any demands about turning Kuwait into a democracy or about womans rights. Kuwait is a dictator controled country just like Cuba. US helped Kuwait but they do all they can short of a war to break Castro. I don't approv Castro but US is so hypocritical in there forign policy. And by boming Afganistan US have recruited 1000 people for Al quada

    howdy,
but would you agree that the world would be rather mad at the U.S. if an American flag was flying in Kuwait today.
as for Cuba, have you had an atom bomb in your back yard pointed square at you latley.

Australian ships are still helping in the blockade of Iraq for the US.

If you had not given Sadam all the guns and tanks to fight the Ahatolla Kheomani(sp?) in Iran, there would not have been a Gulf war.

And if you had not proped up the Shar of Iran's dictatorship under the 'domino effect' principle, there would have been no need to give Sadam the weapons in the first place.

    >>plans to attack Afganistan, or in other words they invited us to the party.
Well that ignores the crusie missiles you sent into factories after the bombing of USS Cole. (the factories turned out later not to be linked to OBL)

Or Clinton's plan to assasinate OBL using a specially trained squad of 60 Pakistani army officers, abandoned after the coup in Pakistan.

Before anyone says it. NO, I don't think OBL is innocent. He is a criminal that should be brought to justice. International justice though, not the US justice we see at Camp X-Ray.
