    Stupid Computer Problems!

Im really f*****g ........ed off right now. I bought another stick of ddr ram for my computer and when i installed it, my motherboard got fried, this is some bs! I dont see how a stick of memory can fry my mb, exspecially since ive been building computers for years and have never seen anything like this happen. Now i have to wate for the damn company to inspect the mb and decide to send me back a new one.

hmm the only time I fried a computer was when someone gave me a 220v computer with a 110v plug and did not tell me...

wait there was a time with a removable hard drive too... doh and the coke bottle...and the athlon chip *ugh* why did you bring up such sad memories

This wasnt my only mistake, when i was 10 i droped a magnetized screwdriver into my family's 486 and fried the I/O board and the svga board. Lets just say that a magnetized screwdriver wasnt a good thing to be using to remove a screw. Another time I forgot to pull the power coard from the wall (dont let anyone ever tell u there is no power still going through when the computers off but not unpluged) and was removing a hard drive when i got shocked and then the HD was blank so much fun.

I had a similar problem about a year ago but with a minor variation. The point from which i took the supply was faulty and even my spike guard couldn't prevent the motherboard from being fried.

Just read your quote, isn't that what they are doing now?

    Lightbulb maybe you can...

the same thing happened when i put in an internal modem. all i had to do was unplug the computer, turn the computer on and then off, then plug it in again. i guess this drains the electricity that's left in the capacitor, or the fuse or something, anyways try that.

Trust me i tried. I removed all cards and pulled all the connectors for floppy, hd, cd, ..... set the jumper to reset the bios all failed so the mb is fried. Tried all the components including the ram and cpu in another mb and they are all working so the mb is fried. I just sent it back to newegg (http://www.newegg.com) and they should send me a replacement in a day or two. Untill then i must suffer on this supper slow computer
