"it's not ridiculous if you know how to play Go and you have some experience with math."
.. no, it's still ridiculous: you cannot have a "statistically better game", because how "good" one views a game is inherently subjective.

"who do u think is the best chess player in history... "
Kasparov, easily. Kasparov has recently taken to playing the national teams simultaneously.... he plays the 4-5 GMs that make up a national team all at the same time...... so far all the countries that have taken on Kasparov have been defeated.
Though Tal is one of my favourite players, Kasparov is the king of chess.
I would suggest that you read the first few passages of "Murder at the Rue Morgue" by Edgar Allen Poe.. i think you'll find it interesting. (it's about chess)
I'd have to agree with Clyde, much as I hate to. The defeat of the Israeli team simultaneously was an incredible feat of human imagination, concentration, and endurance.
Take the first move. We'll settle this once and for all!Quote:
Bring it on!

I'm so sorry I didn't come up with that one. Every game should have an element of nakedness involved.
Kasparov is a good player and is doing pretty good but compare his games with those of Capablanca and Tal. They are legendary players man!! Capablanca was THE BEST!!! ( and he was a good sport too, not a sore loser/winner)Quote:

Hmm. There is a somewhat more contemporary (yet, discontinued) board game called Diplomacy, by Avalon Hill (I think that Hasbro owns them now). I would have to say that Diplomacy is the bestboard game there is... at least, if you allow its variations. The purpose: to take over Europe, but the only way to really do so is at the bargaining table with the other players.

I've heard that Diplomacy is a great game... have you heard of Axis and Allies the board game?
how many of you have heard of "Scotland Yard"? that is a really cool board game too. I really enjoyed it when ther are 4 or more players...
Dude, I've been hiding from them for years...:DQuote:

this game- you get to run from the SY or go after them... Believe me - it is fun. especially when there are 4-8 players.
That sounds like a great premise for the game.. i'll have to look into it.
AFAIK, Diplomacy hasn't been discontinued (except in the Middle East - HAHA! I'll be here all week) - I saw it in my local hobby shop just last weekend. Also, they had this really sweet new version of Risk - Risk 2150 or something. I would have pickedthat up if I had had the cash with me.
Anyone remember the PC version of Diplomacy a couple years ago? What a stinker...
anyone know the site to keep up with the chess tournament going on..?
i heard that it is "www.newinchess.com" or something like that. i tried going there but doesnt work. if you know please tell me.
