I'm sorry to break it to you, but Go has far more strategy involved than simple chess. The chess board, as Edgar Allen Poe said (this isn't what he said precisely) is a board where the first person to make an error will loose, whereas on the go board, if one error is made, the player at fault can come back and win in other theaters.
It has been mathematically proven that there are more possible moves in Go than there are in Chess (watch the move Pi), yet the rules are far simpler. Go is statistically a better game, although many many people have not heard of it. It's a real shame that mainly the chinese play it and most of us are simple americans.
